[11:04 AM] Object: [MEETING NOTICE] For optimal sim stability, please remove or disable unnecessary HUDs and AOs during the meeting. Thank you for your cooperation.

[11:05 AM] sharann cousine is online.
[11:05 AM] albertlr Landar: ## What's changing

OSGrid is moving regular membership and donation collection to **Zeffy**, a payment platform built specifically for nonprofits.
- Zeffy charges **no processing fees** — 100% of what's given goes to OSGrid.
- Right now, memberships and donations go through PayPal, which takes a percentage on every transaction. Moving to Zeffy is expected to save OSGrid **close to $1,000/year** in fees.
- **If you already give through PayPal and prefer to keep doing that, you still can.** Nothing is being forced — Zeffy is simply the new preferred option going forward.
[11:05 AM] Lobo Estepario is offline.
[11:06 AM] Deanna Janus is offline.
[11:06 AM] dan banner: i think they also accept apple and google pay
[11:06 AM] Dowal Canson: ♥ Hᴏℓα ! ♥
[11:06 AM] Dowal Canson: amigo
[11:06 AM] albertlr Landar: Now one question about zeffy is it secure.
[11:06 AM] Dowal Canson [pt→en]: ♥ Hᴏℓα ! ♥
[11:06 AM] Dowal Canson [pt→en]: friend
[11:06 AM] Lobo Estepario is online.
[11:07 AM] Sherree Parx: and credit card do they
[11:07 AM] Dowal Canson: sente no banco e levaqnte
[11:07 AM] Dowal Canson [pt→en]: sit on the bench and get up
[11:07 AM] albertlr Landar: Zeffy use Stripe which is very similar to PayPal.
[11:07 AM] albertlr Landar: Zeffy and Osgrid does not store you credit or debit inot.,
[11:08 AM] Alien Jay: my antivirus won't let me get into Zeffy for some odd reason.
[11:08 AM] albertlr Landar: It is securly stored at Stripe, which has the exact high standards for security, so you info is safe with them.
[11:08 AM] albertlr Landar: ## What does NOT change
- OSGrid's **$10/month membership minimum stays the same.**
- Membership remains **optional**, same as it's always been.
- PayPal isn't going away entirely — OSGrid will still use it to pay vendors (hosting, services, etc.), just not for collecting member/donor payments.
[11:08 AM] Deanna Janus is online.
[11:09 AM] OSGWS-3: At 2026-09-27 HeavenlyAngel Char HeavenlyAngel Char Arrived at OSgrid Welcome Station
[11:09 AM] albertlr Landar: ## Frequently Asked Questions
**Q: Do I have to switch to Zeffy?**
No. If PayPal works for you, you can keep using it. Zeffy is the new preferred option, not a requirement.
[11:09 AM] Sherree Parx: i donated today i found it alot better
[11:09 AM] albertlr Landar: **Q: Is my membership amount changing?**
No. The $10/month minimum is unchanged.
[11:09 AM] Lobo Estepario is offline.
[11:09 AM] Now playing: Benjamin Orr - Stay the Night [4jYa]
[11:09 AM] albertlr Landar: **Q: Why bother switching at all?**
Because Zeffy takes no cut, more of every dollar given goes directly to keeping the grid running rather than to transaction fees.
[11:09 AM] albertlr Landar: **Q: Where do I go to give through Zeffy?**
[11:10 AM] albertlr Landar: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/donate-to-change-lives-22863

[11:16 AM] Sherree Parx: thank you albert
[11:17 AM] YHWHY SHUA is offline.
[11:18 AM] dan banner: now turning to more changes, assets are not ideal for block devices and we're switching to object storage soon
[11:19 AM] dan banner: we'll be moving assets to S3 storage
[11:19 AM] Sherree Parx: dan what does that blocked devices
[11:19 AM] dan banner: we have some more detailed information here:
[11:19 AM] dan banner: sherree: standard drives
[11:19 AM] dan banner: https://osgrid.org/migration_assets.pdf
[11:19 AM] Sherree Parx: ah thank you
[11:20 AM] Vanilla Ninja: will this mean, assets load faster?
[11:20 AM] OSGWS-3: At 2026-09-27 Jade McCoy Jade McCoy Arrived at OSgrid Welcome Station
[11:20 AM] dan banner: thats what its about, yes
[11:20 AM] KrisTina: 👍
[11:20 AM] Walter Balazic: if you go to S3 aren't you going to charged per usage rather than flat rate as you are now?
[11:20 AM] dan banner: initially its going to be slow as can be when you change outfits as assets get migrated
[11:21 AM] Sherree Parx: yes that be better to also there times tps are slow to get around with there be any upgrade to make tps better
[11:21 AM] Now playing: The Korgis - Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime [4jXq]
[11:21 AM] dan banner: correct walter, its a bit of an expense that only increases as asset storage grows
[11:22 AM] Crazy Onasis: the migration to S3 means a offtime ?
[11:22 AM] Vanilla Ninja: will there be an outage during migration or do u have some kind of routing layer in between?
[11:22 AM] dan banner: we have shop for best price and performance
[11:22 AM] Sherree Parx: thats sounds good
[11:22 AM] dan banner: and it turns out that our main host offers the best pricing
[11:23 AM] dan banner: which is around $0.00002222 per gb
[11:23 AM] Vanilla Ninja: how many gigs is the current library?
[11:23 AM] orbert tatham is online.
[11:23 AM] dan banner: its around 12 tb now but some of that is likely wasted on sector size overhead
[11:24 AM] Vanilla Ninja: will there be deduplication in place then?
[11:24 AM] Sherree Parx: wow thats alot of storage
[11:24 AM] dan banner: yes the standard deduplication is still used
[11:25 AM] Leo Lampes: ok hört sich ja nicht so viel an
[11:25 AM] dan banner: this change is needed to keep things functional and scalable
[11:25 AM] Sherree Parx: will that claer any curuption in the intevertory to
[11:25 AM] Now playing: Strange Advance - We Run [4jYb]
[11:26 AM] Alien Jay: somewhat sherree
[11:26 AM] dan banner: and the other change that will happen is we will be moving to a fee nased system for regions
[11:26 AM] dan banner: fee based
[11:26 AM] Vanilla Ninja: is there a routing layer between where files not already migrated will be kept accessible or is it possible that assets maybe unable to load for a couple hours?
[11:26 AM] Sherree Parx: also will we be able to delet trash with out it returning like it does at present
[11:26 AM] Thirza Ember is offline.
[11:27 AM] dan banner: there will be a migration in the background
[11:27 AM] Mia Fireheart: will this help with crashes if our assets are stored differantly if the grid crashes so we won't have to redo our whole avi, inventory ect
[11:27 AM] dan banner: eventually bringing all the existing assets to S3
[11:27 AM] KrisTina: :)
[11:27 AM] Alien Jay: Sherree, if you go to main web and delete it there, it does not return
[11:28 AM] Pink Ice: true
[11:28 AM] Bobbi Fox: what will the fees be Dan?
[11:28 AM] Walter Balazic: let's hear about the fee's
[11:28 AM] Umberrock 404: asking => S3 => found return at where is askin not found ask old server the assets transfer it and give it a lower progress backup run in same time for transfer the content not asked i nreal time
[11:28 AM] Sherree Parx: thats brillant not to lose assets cause last time i had to re do my clothes lost everythoing so that better way of working
[11:28 AM] dan banner: inventory trash will always require visiting the website to emoty
[11:28 AM] dan banner: empty
[11:28 AM] dan banner: okay on to the fees
[11:29 AM] Vanilla Ninja: how many days do you think it takes until everything is uploaded?
[11:29 AM] Vanilla Ninja: a week?
[11:29 AM] Sherree Parx: about mounth
[11:29 AM] dan banner: you come to osgrid, you can 'enable regions' in your profile
[11:29 AM] Now playing: Peter Gabriel - I Have the Touch [4jY5]
[11:29 AM] Umberrock 404: we can answer at all question after vanillala
[11:29 AM] dan banner: you can start up a sim and run a region free
[11:30 AM] Orion Gizmo: What is the expected latency for S3 retreival vs fsassets?
[11:30 AM] Sherree Parx: dan thats brillant
[11:30 AM] Slow Ibanez: lasst Dan doch mal aisreden
[11:30 AM] dan banner: after the first region the fee is $1 per region
[11:30 AM] Slow Ibanez: ausreden
[11:30 AM] Alien Jay: let him get this on the fees done first please
[11:30 AM] Slow Ibanez: thats cheap
[11:30 AM] Zen Rieko: For how long?
[11:30 AM] Pin Deluca: a month ?
[11:31 AM] dan banner: per month yes
[11:31 AM] Alien Jay: nice
[11:31 AM] dan banner: thats how we get charged for the servers
[11:31 AM] Slow Ibanez: (¯`v´¯) (¯`v´¯)

[11:31 AM] Robyn Starbrook: Sorry .... I give regions away , you are saying I have to disconnect my Regions ?
[11:31 AM] Truble Brewin: a region being 1x1?
[11:31 AM] Azi Az: Dan, and what about who have 50 or 60 regions ?
[11:31 AM] dan banner: let me explain
[11:31 AM] KrisTina: Please refrain from questions and/or typing while Dan is
[11:31 AM] Sherree Parx: i have 2 regions here
[11:32 AM] Caro Fayray: QUESTIONS AFTER
[11:32 AM] Caro Fayray: PLEASE
[11:32 AM] Arya paul: TY Caro!
[11:32 AM] dan banner: there are basically 2 types of scenarios
[11:32 AM] LadySamantha Cumberland: if you have 60 you pay 60$
[11:32 AM] Umberrock 404: 59
[11:33 AM] Alien Jay: shhh.. let dan finish please
[11:33 AM] dan banner: you're a resident and you want to run 5 regions you would login to the website and pay the $4 fee for the additional 4 regions
[11:34 AM] Now playing: Pat Benatar - Shadows of the Night (Remastered) [4jXl]
[11:34 AM] dan banner: if you host regions for others we have a special form that region hosters would apply with
[11:34 AM] dan banner: and rather than pre-paying you would be post billed
[11:35 AM] dan banner: so anyone thats an approved hoster can setup regions as needed no hassles and would have until the 7th of each month to cover their costs
[11:36 AM] Walter Balazic: any idea what the rate will be?
[11:36 AM] dan banner: $1
[11:36 AM] dan banner: per region per month
[11:36 AM] Robyn Starbrook: $1 US
[11:36 AM] Crazy Onasis: and Var?
[11:36 AM] Walter Balazic: so it's the same for region hosters
[11:36 AM] Umberrock 404: yes
[11:36 AM] dan banner: a var is 1 region
[11:36 AM] Crazy Onasis: ok
[11:36 AM] Robyn Starbrook: Even if they provide free regions ?
[11:36 AM] Sherree Parx: but one is free
[11:37 AM] Rich Talborn: charge tem the $1\
[11:37 AM] Crazy Onasis: if someone comeas at wolf grid atm and use 100x100 var ?
[11:37 AM] Crazy Onasis: LOL
[11:37 AM] Robyn Starbrook: I am not running a business, I am an Age Pensioner .
[11:37 AM] dan banner: the be clear: the $1 fee is on top of any costs you might have to pay for your regions
[11:38 AM] Umberrock 404: after 512 x 512 is concidered 2 regions
[11:38 AM] Now playing: Steve Winwood - Higher Love [4jX5]
[11:38 AM] albertlr Landar: So that everyone better understands these changes here is the question and answer that has not been raised. Why is Osgrid Switching to a $1 for second+ regions? To help cover the costs of the servers and maintain those regions and assets. Donations and subscriptions have not been able to keep up with the increasing costs of the servers, and everyone that has more than one region must help to pay for the servers and to keep them going.
[11:39 AM] Robyn Starbrook: So pay or shut down , is that it ?
[11:39 AM] albertlr Landar: We have no choice.
[11:39 AM] cilla teebrook: giggles
[11:39 AM] quaezar Agnomen: OpenSim is free, volunteers are.. but server that run all cost money
[11:39 AM] dan banner: what i would expect is that people offering hosting might have to make slight adjustments to their pricing
[11:39 AM] Koni Lanzius: How do stand alones figure into all this?
[11:39 AM] Sherree Parx: yes im stand alone
[11:39 AM] dan banner: koni a standalone is its on sim/grid outside of osgrid
[11:39 AM] Robyn Starbrook: Hey I DON"T CHARGE !! It is not a business
[11:39 AM] Koni Lanzius: ahh
[11:40 AM] Orion Gizmo: Remember, you can host regions without connecting them to osgrid
[11:40 AM] LadySamantha Cumberland: yes Robyn
[11:40 AM] Robyn Starbrook: Orion you have to host your own Grid then ...
[11:40 AM] albertlr Landar: There will be certain exemptions, the first region is free and will stay free.
[11:40 AM] Crazy Onasis: but listen if someone runs a var with example 150k and more prims all count to your storage is this fair them pay 2 dollar ? and others 1 dollar for a single sim its not plausible sorry
[11:41 AM] Sherree Parx: well i can lose the second region of mine work with one
[11:41 AM] dan banner: there are still some 'adjustments' we will be making
[11:41 AM] albertlr Landar: The one fee is cheaper than any other host will change your for a region.
[11:41 AM] LadySamantha Cumberland: thats the rules Crazy
[11:41 AM] Purrrfectt Catt is online.
[11:41 AM] Jupiter Rowland: You can always donate, you know.
[11:41 AM] Dowal Canson: e se minha regiao estiver em meu servidor, pago assim mesmo?
[11:41 AM] Dowal Canson [pt→en]: And if my region is on my server, do I still pay?
[11:41 AM] Crazy Onasis: yes is a rule but not fair
[11:41 AM] Sherree Parx: basicly your be on same lines as sl
[11:41 AM] dan banner: its not going to be implemented until after october
[11:42 AM] Michael Timeless: Guys rather than answer the same question a thousand different ways, is there a link to the new standards.
[11:42 AM] Sherree Parx: but not as dear
[11:42 AM] LadySamantha Cumberland: all the years you had all free, now its time to help
[11:42 AM] Unadecal Masala: Crazy: Region load has nothing to do with asset storage or inventory access. This seems like a way to make a quick buck out of people
[11:42 AM] Jack Riva: I’d like to ask if the issues with the inventory system folders will be improved; many folders that weren't originally system folders have now become system folders and cannot be deleted. What can you tell me about this?
[11:42 AM] Jack Riva [it→en]: I'd like to ask if the issues with the inventory system folders will be improved; many folders that weren't originally system folders have now become system folders and cannot be deleted. What can you tell me about this?
[11:42 AM] Nahele Solari: moaning about one dollar or 2 per month, its one cup of coffee less somewhere
[11:42 AM] Esti Mation: do not compare os to sl, try to have region in sl :)))
[11:42 AM] Selena Moonchild: Won't the donations fall if you charge for the regions?
[11:42 AM] Sherree Parx: i have cost me 90 a month
[11:42 AM] dan banner: jack i'll fix that for you
[11:42 AM] quaezar Agnomen: Esti :)
[11:43 AM] Koni Lanzius: yeah, I think this is a very fair solution to keeping the grid running
[11:43 AM] KRIS GuitarRAS: one dollar for region in SL????
[11:43 AM] Sherree Parx: but as i said in same lines but not as expensive
[11:43 AM] DeJay Kenny: not getting the point at all , sorry folks my re on a privat server .. connected to osgrid .. so why paying to os ?
[11:43 AM] Robyn Starbrook: Nahele, I am on a pension, I do this for enjoyment, I already Pay to run my servers ...
[11:43 AM] albertlr Landar: It costs $30+ in SL for one region.
[11:43 AM] LadySamantha Cumberland: yes it is fair, i agree
[11:43 AM] Jack Riva: thank you Dan
[11:43 AM] Jack Riva [it→en]: thank you Dan
[11:43 AM] Orion Gizmo: it's not for a region, though. you dont get a region for that dollar
[11:43 AM] dan banner: unadecal: any fees charged goes directly back to the grid. nobody is making anything off this
[11:43 AM] Zen Rieko: I'm not clear about the var situation. If someone has a var region which is the equivalent land area of 16 singe regions, do they pay $15 or get it free because it's considered a single var region?
[11:43 AM] Jupiter Rowland: A var is 1 region.
[11:44 AM] Now playing: Steve Perry - Oh Sherrie [4jXa]
[11:44 AM] Jupiter Rowland: One 4x4 costs you nothing.
[11:44 AM] Orion Gizmo: but, it is still great value, for grid servicces being hosted and managed for you
[11:44 AM] Robyn Starbrook: I have a Var with 256 Regions, mostly water .
[11:44 AM] albertlr Landar: And because is a fee it is not tax deductible, it is going towards paying for your servers.
[11:44 AM] Koni Lanzius: thats true, Orion
[11:44 AM] Sindy Fox: agree
[11:44 AM] Robyn Starbrook: I can't afford $300 AU per month
[11:44 AM] Crazy Onasis: a var as i undertand cost 2 dollar no matter what size this more then fair
[11:44 AM] Jupiter Rowland: Robyn, if you've only got one var, it's free.
[11:45 AM] albertlr Landar: A Non-Profit can change fess and our bylays were amended to allow that.
[11:45 AM] Jupiter Rowland: 16x16 is still 1 region.
[11:45 AM] Robyn Starbrook: I have 10 Regions. 1 Var and 9 other which I give away .
[11:45 AM] Umberrock 404: try run a big var without any problem :)
[11:46 AM] Orion Gizmo: how does that make $300 AU?
[11:46 AM] Robyn Starbrook: I do ..
[11:46 AM] Vanilla Ninja: lots of regions will vanish as soon as this rule is active
[11:46 AM] dan banner: large vars that are water would run well
[11:46 AM] Robyn Starbrook: My Var is 256 equiv Regions
[11:46 AM] dan banner: vars that large with objects dont do so well
[11:46 AM] Robyn Starbrook: They do Dan , Very well
[11:46 AM] Walter Balazic: when does this start?
[11:46 AM] dan banner: after october walter
[11:46 AM] Danger Lytton: If a region is 'hosted' by me but 'owned' by my renter - it shows up on ther renter's list of regions - who is responsible for paying the dollar?
[11:47 AM] Jupiter Rowland: Robyn, that's US-$9.
[11:47 AM] Purrrfectt Catt is offline.
[11:47 AM] Unadecal Masala: Great question Danger
[11:47 AM] Now playing: Spandau Ballet - Gold [4jX4]
[11:48 AM] Robyn Starbrook: that is still = to $16 AU after conversion fees, and Tax
[11:48 AM] dan banner: danger it could be handled either way
[11:48 AM] SoniaLilou Celestia: I have a question: will people who don't have a region those who just show up have to pay anything, or is it only those of us who own a land
[11:48 AM] Alien Jay: easy answer, you are charged then you have to adjust pricing for your places
[11:48 AM] dan banner: no sonia
[11:48 AM] SoniaLilou Celestia: ok
[11:48 AM] Orion Gizmo: "[11:38] Meow: after 512 x 512 is concidered 2 regions" - only 2? no more? no matter the size?
[11:48 AM] Unadecal Masala: Robyn: that "equivalent regions" size analogy you use is misleading. IT IS JUST ONE REGION
[11:48 AM] Robyn Starbrook: JAY I DOn't Charge it is not a Business
[11:48 AM] OSGWS-3: At 2026-09-27 Jade McCoy Jade McCoy Arrived at OSgrid Welcome Station
[11:49 AM] Crazy Onasis: yes orion its this i understand it too
[11:49 AM] dan banner: orion we are still working out some details with vars
[11:49 AM] Robyn Starbrook: So the 4096 x 4096 Region is a single $1
[11:49 AM] Crazy Onasis: hahaha
[11:49 AM] Simona Engel: will OS Grid colse for all these changes?
[11:49 AM] Umberrock 404: for the first region free orion
[11:49 AM] Orion Gizmo: ahh ok
[11:50 AM] Clairwil Oh: Dan, thank you for this information. I think that it is more than fair: this will go towards the hardware and storage systems and the work that connects our sims/regions to the grid and stores all our assets. I wish that there was a way that our payment that would go for regions could be sent through the new donation system. Perhaps this is not appropriate as it would not be eligible as a tax deductible "donation" to OS Grid. But again, the fee is extremely fair and...thank you for the work and planning involved in taking osg to the next level.
[11:50 AM] Jupiter Rowland: No matter the size.
[11:50 AM] Umberrock 404: free first region are limited in size
[11:50 AM] Walter Balazic: since you're charging for regions, you going to allow region locations to be locked in then?
[11:50 AM] Orion Gizmo: but for the $1, any size
[11:50 AM] Umberrock 404: after nop
[11:50 AM] cilla teebrook: amen
[11:50 AM] Pin Deluca: Does this mean you are moving away from TEST GRID , and therefore will have very little downtime ?
[11:50 AM] Purrrfectt Catt is online.
[11:51 AM] Umberrock 404: the new system doesnt liberate the region coordinate in quit console
[11:51 AM] dan banner: we are trying to make changes to avoid downtime, the switcg to S3 storage will probably only need a could hours of downtime
[11:51 AM] Crazy Onasis: sounds good
[11:51 AM] Now playing: Arcadia - Election Day (2010 Remastered Version) [4jX3]
[11:51 AM] Pin Deluca: Ok thank you
[11:51 AM] Sherree Parx: so you moving away fron this grid we are on now
[11:51 AM] dan banner: walter if a location remains registered you would keep the location
[11:51 AM] cilla teebrook: we'll learn as we go along
[11:52 AM] Sherree Parx: im a stand alone will i keep my region
[11:52 AM] dan banner: another example i'd like to cover is what happens if i close my second region?
[11:52 AM] Matilda Charron: are there many aussies here?
[11:52 AM] albertlr Landar: Now OSgrid will remain a non-profit, the IRS lets us change fees. But we are limiting them to the minimum we need to keep things working.
[11:52 AM] Robyn Starbrook: The owner of the region should pay not the hoster
[11:53 AM] Purrrfectt Catt is offline.
[11:53 AM] DeJay Kenny: the question is whom to pay laughing loud ....... the hoster or osgrid ......
[11:53 AM] Simona Engel: Thank you I hope that it will be just a few hours :-) and will ther ebe other changes?
[11:54 AM] dan banner: any additional regions you paid for are tracked by the region uuid and your profile on the web will show any unused uuid's that paid for
[11:54 AM] albertlr Landar: That covers most to fhtem.
[11:54 AM] cilla teebrook: who should we send more questions to?
[11:54 AM] albertlr Landar: We can not charge the fees to Zeffy.com as they do not support fees at this time.
[11:54 AM] Pin Deluca: To reduce the need for server size ... why dont you alsi delete all avetars who have not logged in i 6 months ?
[11:55 AM] dan banner: i'm happy to answer any questions just leave me a message
[11:55 AM] DeJay Kenny: APPLAUSE TO PINS POINT
[11:55 AM] Poppy Fields: i am sorry but some are saying a VAR is one region but Umber is saying that is not the case
[11:55 AM] Esti Mation: good pont Pin
[11:55 AM] Alien Jay: i was thinking a year Pin.
[11:55 AM] Crazy Onasis: 6 months is not fair i think 1 year
[11:55 AM] albertlr Landar: they will be changed to PayPal which we already have set up.
[11:55 AM] Walter Balazic: yes can you clarify the VAR situation?
[11:55 AM] dan banner: poppy: give us time to work out any details
[11:55 AM] Esti Mation: right, a year
[11:55 AM] Jupiter Rowland: Poppy, Dan himself has explicitly said that a var is 1 sim.
[11:56 AM] Crazy Onasis: 1 year no login delete all is best
[11:56 AM] Unadecal Masala: I think we need to move on, because the Board don't seem to have their ducks in a row on the charging model still, but I have to raise a very strong objection to the way the charging model is being introduced without consulting the people who actually DO the hosting and allow more users to stay and build in Osgrid
[11:56 AM] Alien Jay: yes
[11:56 AM] Umberrock 404: you cant delete if a user are not logged
[11:56 AM] Umberrock 404: imagine you go in hospital for a year?
[11:56 AM] Lyr Lobo nods
[11:56 AM] Umberrock 404: are you happy to lost all when you are back ?
[11:56 AM] Robyn Starbrook: Yes I second Unadecal
[11:56 AM] Zen Rieko: Anyone who has not logged-,n since the "big crash" has an empty inventory anyway - so why not delete their accounts and slim the whole thing down. They can alwayu re-register if they want.
[11:56 AM] Pin Deluca: Yes
[11:56 AM] Poppy Fields: yes Jupiter and Umber said explicitly it is not. so which is true?
[11:56 AM] Now playing: Benny Mardones - Into the Night [4jY6]
[11:56 AM] Lyr Lobo: No, Meow, yes, to Unadecal
[11:57 AM] Clairwil Oh: thank you, albertir, for the clarification why "fees for regions" versus "donations to grid via Zeffy" must be kept separated.
[11:57 AM] Orion Gizmo: inventory costs next to nothing anyway, its the assets behind the inv which cost money
[11:57 AM] Azi Az: I agreee with you UNA, well said.
[11:57 AM] Pin Deluca: Honestly ... all if free its not that difficult to get all back if needed
[11:57 AM] Jupiter Rowland: Besides, deleting users has nasty side-effects, especially if stuff they've made still exists in-world.
[11:57 AM] dan banner: masala: you think its right for someone to take advantage of grid services for absolutely nothing in return?
[11:57 AM] albertlr Landar: because fees are not tax-deductible they are paying for servers when you pay for a service the IRS does not allow it.
[11:57 AM] Vanilla Ninja: What i didn't read yet is: What happens with the regions that are currently active. not everyone will know about this change. will unpaid regions simply remove from the search list and unable to tp to?
[11:58 AM] dan banner: vanilla: there will be a grace period
[11:58 AM] Sherree Parx: looking at what someof you have said there be lots regions gone from os grid if people who have more than one cant afford them
[11:58 AM] Robyn Starbrook: Dan do you think it right that a person hosting regions for free so others can enjoy OS, be further disadvantaged ?
[11:58 AM] dan banner: and any regions that are unpaid will still be there
[11:58 AM] Hailey Firethorn: And, the same applies for "self-hosting"?
[11:59 AM] albertlr Landar: we will send notices to everyone that has a registered email address.
[11:59 AM] Lobo Estepario is offline.
[11:59 AM] dan banner: is why i said in the beginning that some of these changes will not be popular
[11:59 AM] Sherree Parx: well tonight i delteing my second region and ill stick with one
[11:59 AM] Alien Jay: my email is registered an di haven't gotten anything from day one.
[11:59 AM] Robyn Starbrook: Why wasn't this discussed in Discord instead of calling this meeting ?
[12:00 PM] dan banner: robyn: because drama?
[12:00 PM] Zen Rieko: Because not everyone has dicord
[12:00 PM] Sherree Parx: thats good question does od have discord
[12:00 PM] Pin Deluca: not everyone have a disco account
[12:00 PM] albertlr Landar: Many many take what OSgrid has to offer with no support. We have tried out best to come up with a way to make this fair for everyone.
[12:00 PM] dan banner: and that too
[12:00 PM] Azi Az: i can see mostly of the free parcels regions will pooffff for ex:
[12:00 PM] Matilda Charron: are we starting questions yet? there have been many but I feel a bit overwhelmed with it all
[12:00 PM] Esti Mation: because not everyone is on discord - i am not on any discord channels
[12:00 PM] Unadecal Masala: Dan: I think it's really bad to take advantage of grid services without contributing. I have been putting $50 in the kitty every month for years. I might add that I do not run a huge hosting business. I still have to work 40 hour weeks just above the minimum wage, but that is not the point mate. Depending on how this goes I may have to scale back, remove all the freebies I give, or even up sticks
[12:00 PM] Foxx Bode: Statutes. We have to hold an annual meeting. :)
[12:01 PM] quaezar Agnomen: It's all rather simple... It's either charging some money for provided services or the end of OSGrid. Without money the grid cannot continue..
[12:01 PM] Robyn Starbrook: Most of the hosters are on discord and it seems they are the ones ambushed by this
[12:01 PM] Now playing: Flash and the Pan - Waiting For a Train [4jYh]
[12:01 PM] Poppy Fields: Question: will this mean a software update? opensim
[12:01 PM] Umberrock 404: 50 and you win 1000 ?
[12:01 PM] Umberrock 404: una :)
[12:01 PM] albertlr Landar: Looo OSgrid offers homesteads for free, they will remain for free.
[12:01 PM] Orion Gizmo: do you host more than 51 regions, Unadecal?
[12:01 PM] Umberrock 404: ok i close my mouth now :)
[12:02 PM] dan banner: ty quaezar
[12:02 PM] Sherree Parx: i donate as when i can to os grid
[12:02 PM] Alien Jay: these meetings need to be in voice instead of typing. that way the admins can just voice out what needs to be said, then answer questions later.
[12:02 PM] Zen Rieko: Voice is blocked for some of us
[12:02 PM] cilla teebrook: oh dear
[12:02 PM] Koni Lanzius: typing allows for record keeping
[12:02 PM] dan banner: if residents have to cancel donations to cover their region fees thats understandable
[12:02 PM] Rich Talborn: Voice does not give translator
[12:03 PM] Simona Engel: is there any other changes? because in Germany its late and wi would like to go rather to bed if there is nothing else to know
[12:03 PM] Zen Rieko: true
[12:03 PM] Sindy Fox: thats the bottom line quaezar
[12:03 PM] Crazy Onasis: translator anyway not working LOL
[12:03 PM] albertlr Landar: The board will post all fee changes in a doc just as they have posted the changes to the servers. So everyone can read and better understand. All you questions here will be answered there.
[12:03 PM] Robyn Starbrook: MONO it is 2am here in Western Australia !!!!!
[12:03 PM] KrisTina: I was buying hardware for a second server. lol
[12:03 PM] quaezar Agnomen: yw Dan
[12:03 PM] KRIS GuitarRAS: Sorry, I must go to RL. Thanks for the info and keep this amazing world!!
[12:03 PM] Walter Balazic: these docs will be on the OSG website?
[12:03 PM] albertlr Landar: But you have to be patient for the responses.
[12:03 PM] dan banner: yes walter they will
[12:03 PM] KRIS GuitarRAS: good night!!
[12:04 PM] albertlr Landar: Yes
[12:04 PM] Walter Balazic: How soon will you have this form for people hosting here in OSG?
[12:04 PM] Matilda Charron: haaha robyn, me too
[12:04 PM] DeJay Kenny: DAN this is my point .. with this stupid idea u will destroy osgrid many hosters will prefare to run a standalone grid
[12:04 PM] dan banner: probably be november
[12:04 PM] Crazy Onasis: nonsens djkenny
[12:04 PM] Walter Balazic: ok, in the meantime, fees don't start yet?
[12:04 PM] dan banner: thanks dejay
[12:04 PM] DeJay Kenny: u may bet
[12:04 PM] Esti Mation: something reminds me of Metro
[12:04 PM] Walter Balazic: I have alot of discussions to have with several people
[12:04 PM] Hailey Firethorn: Is our "SELF hosting" effected the same way????
[12:05 PM] Now playing: Flash and the Pan - Waiting For a Train [4jYh]
[12:05 PM] Now playing: Peter Murphy - All Night Long [4jX0]
[12:05 PM] Robyn Starbrook: When OSGrid was down I ran my Own Grid .
[12:05 PM] Umberrock 404: Comprehensive, detailed documentation will be posted online sometime this week. Please bear with us; we are volunteers first and foremost, with lives outside of this project.
[12:05 PM] albertlr Landar: No everything is the same except request for Zeffy and preparation for server changes.
[12:05 PM] Orion Gizmo: Running and maintaining a large grid is expensive. It is not something you can do on your spare PC on your DSL connection.
[12:05 PM] dan banner: hailey: everyone will be able to self host a region for free
[12:05 PM] Simona Engel: ok thank you for informing us :-) have a great time :-)
[12:05 PM] Lyr Lobo: Thank you!
[12:06 PM] Robyn Starbrook: Orion, I have multiple Data Center Servers, It is not difficult
[12:06 PM] Robyn Starbrook: The Reason I like OSGrid is the friends I have
[12:06 PM] Sherree Parx: my friend runs his own standalone service and pays for server and it can be huge amount of money
[12:06 PM] Creenia London: is there anymore information from the board that needed to be shared?
[12:06 PM] Orion Gizmo: and i am guessing you pay more than $1 for those, Robyn.
[12:06 PM] Alien Jay: yes any more information?
[12:07 PM] Crazy Onasis: What I don't like is that members weren't informed about any changes—such as the introduction of the "suitcase" feature, which suddenly just appeared. Things like that should be published and made accessible on the OS Grid homepage.
[12:07 PM] Robyn Starbrook: I Have that Sherree, now I am being asked to pay for a Database on the Web.
[12:07 PM] Pin Deluca: Maybe we can stop questions for a while ... let the OS team speak
[12:07 PM] Fantasy Rhode: I want to thank all the hosts who have made Osgrid a place where people want to be offering free land to people just starting out..
[12:07 PM] Slow Ibanez: yesssssss
[12:07 PM] albertlr Landar: The suitcase feature has been present in OSgrid for many years now.
[12:07 PM] Esti Mation: that suitcase was like unpleasant surprise after returning from another grid
[12:07 PM] Sherree Parx: wow robyn
[12:08 PM] albertlr Landar: That reason is security problems.
[12:08 PM] DJ Vee: Is there is a Q&A after the announcements? Because if so...
[12:08 PM] Ai Austin: So to check Dan, the UUID that is your "slot". One free, more paid at $1 per month. You can move to different grid locations or change the region names. But must stay within yoir one fre or paid allowance for concurrently run regions. That works for the case where there are some experimental or very occasionally run regions with legacy content.
[12:08 PM] Sherree Parx: i like it if you one lot stuff it acts as back up
[12:09 PM] DJ Vee: I'm on battery power and at work lol, I would like to know if there's other annoucements
[12:09 PM] KrisTina: It's a good idea
[12:09 PM] Orion Gizmo: Out of curiosity, what is to stop someone else connecting a region using your UUID?
[12:09 PM] KrisTina: seems cheap and logical
[12:09 PM] dan banner: correct AI
[12:09 PM] Ai Austin: 👍
[12:09 PM] Sherree Parx: your using ai
[12:10 PM] Pin Deluca: Can we stop chit chatting and let the OS team speak
[12:10 PM] Creenia London: Please!
[12:10 PM] Arya paul: PLEASE
[12:10 PM] Slow Ibanez: yes please
[12:10 PM] Now playing: The Assembly - Never Never [4jX9]
[12:11 PM] Clairwil Oh: "please, no fighting in here, gentlemen: this is the War Room" (Dr. Srangelove reference)
[12:11 PM] albertlr Landar: I want to add this for those that have reservations with Zeffy.com: **Q: How secure is Zeffy.com compared to PayPal?**
Zeffy does not process or keep your credit card data itself. All card payments on Zeffy are handled by Stripe, one of the largest and most trusted payment processors in the world. Stripe is used by millions of organizations, including UNICEF and many other major charities, as well as companies such as Amazon, Google, and Shopify.

Stripe is independently audited and certified as a PCI Level 1 Service Provider. That is the highest and strictest security certification in the credit card industry, the same level of protection that PayPal and the big banks are held to. Your card information is encrypted and handled by Stripe, not by Zeffy and not by OSgrid. OSgrid never sees your card number.

The reason we are moving to Zeffy is simple: Zeffy charges OSgrid no processing fees at all, so 100% of your donation goes to keeping the grid running. With PayPal, a portion of every donation is lost to
[12:11 PM] albertlr Landar: fees.

That said, this is entirely your choice, it is optional. If you feel more comfortable staying with PayPal, you are absolutely welcome to do so, and we are deeply grateful for your continued support either way.
[12:12 PM] stiofain mactomais is offline.
[12:12 PM] albertlr Landar: And Fees are bit tax deductrible and will not be handled by Zezzy.com
[12:12 PM] albertlr Landar: not tax deductible.
[12:13 PM] Alien Jay: you mean Zeffy ?
[12:13 PM] Umberrock 404: We are going to create a Q&A in web thinks section to be published, and we will try to make it as comprehensive as possible.
[12:14 PM] Robyn Starbrook: Albertir, that is a very US centric view, Tax deductibility may not work outside of the USA, and I don't pay tax as I don't charge. I am not running a business
[12:14 PM] Now playing: Peter Gabriel - Don't Give Up [4jY4]
[12:15 PM] albertlr Landar: Yes, Zeffy can only handle donations and subscriptions, Where as Paypal can handle both fees and donations and subscriptions.
[12:15 PM] Creenia London: Dan and Albertlr and all the volunteers, thank you for the information and keeping OSG running, your time is very much appreciated.
[12:15 PM] quaezar Agnomen: Need to go, thank you for the information OSG Team. You all have a nice day and be safe! Remember will do a cool House music event coming Friday at the Event Plaza for FREE! :)
[12:15 PM] Alien Jay: Yes thank you
[12:15 PM] Sherree Parx: yes thank you
[12:15 PM] Ai Austin: We need to look at who can run a region that is apparently (but not actually) "owned" by an avatar and how they don't misuse registered UUIDs.
[12:15 PM] albertlr Landar: But Paypal changes fees for transactions also, so we are trying to move away from Paypal for donations and subscritions.
[12:15 PM] quaezar Agnomen: Enjoy :)
[12:16 PM] Creenia London: Have a great day/night everyone!
[12:16 PM] Orion Gizmo: One thing to note about Zeffy - it actually costs them money every time you pay (the card companies charge fees). So they ask for an additional contribution too. It's optional though.
[12:16 PM] Umberrock 404: the system save the name of the avatar not only the uuid
[12:16 PM] Umberrock 404: is very complexe
[12:16 PM] Umberrock 404: not a basic think
[12:16 PM] Kev Brinner: thank you Dan and Albertlr for all informations
[12:16 PM] Mystic Moonshine: well a stand alone grid is seperate from regions u connect with osgrid files if u connect using osgrid then yes u pay for each sim after your first one
[12:17 PM] Alien Jay: and that makes sense
[12:17 PM] albertlr Landar: Please remember that OSgrid is a non profit run by Vouunters all the fees would be going to the servers that keep this Grid going for everyone. That is the only reason for thse changes.
[12:17 PM] Mystic Moonshine: opps that was for IM sorry was explaing to someone lol
[12:17 PM] Paela Argus is offline.
[12:17 PM] orbert tatham is offline.
[12:17 PM] Robyn Starbrook: Yes and the regions are run by volenteers
[12:18 PM] orbert tatham is online.
[12:18 PM] Crazy Onasis: some ppl i heard uses 12 and more alts whats about this ? is this fair then ?
[12:18 PM] Umberrock 404: nop you cant systems found it
[12:18 PM] albertlr Landar: We thanks everyone for coming today, and if you have concerns please let us as the board IM's or emails to our accounts so we can respond.
[12:18 PM] Xi Shi: is a VAR classed as a single region or the total of sims in it?
[12:18 PM] George Clarke: well thanks to all the volunteers and people who put the time in the give us all a home
[12:18 PM] Sherree Parx: you see osgrid been run by vounteers since i jpoined back 2016 so this change would happen evenutully
[12:19 PM] albertlr Landar: Its the storage of the assets and regions which are causing the problems with the servers.
[12:19 PM] albertlr Landar: We have to address those problems.
[12:19 PM] Arya paul: what % of assets belong to avatars who have not logged in for many years
[12:19 PM] Caro Fayray: ty dan and albert for informing us and all who have worked backstage for this...it was necessary
[12:19 PM] Koni Lanzius: yeah the OSG admin are doing a great job and we thank them
[12:19 PM] Jupiter Rowland: That's still unclear, Miss Xi. Dan says a var is 1 region, Umberrock says it isn't.
[12:20 PM] Robyn Starbrook: If people running a business on OSGrid yes they can pay, but non profits are already paying
[12:20 PM] Alien Jay: finally, someone on voice lmao
[12:20 PM] albertlr Landar: that will be clarified.
[12:20 PM] Umberrock 404: the first region free is limited in size
[12:20 PM] Umberrock 404: the paid other nop
[12:20 PM] MillyAnn Morgana: ahh
[12:20 PM] Xi Shi: ty Jupiter, but that makes a huge difference one way or the other
[12:20 PM] Now playing: Peter Gabriel - Don't Give Up [4jY4]
[12:20 PM] Now playing: Alphaville - A Victory of Love [4jWZ]
[12:21 PM] KrisTina: Zeffy is wayyyy more simple
[12:21 PM] KrisTina: imho
[12:21 PM] KrisTina: wow
[12:21 PM] Dolma Dollinger: Arya: None. In March everything became cleared because of a problem the new asset server may solve in the future
[12:21 PM] Miela Ronas: now my question is why we all need to pay, when there is sl for this? opensim is not supposed to be like sl
[12:21 PM] Rich Talborn: Ok all I think I heard enough take care all.
[12:22 PM] albertlr Landar: Thanks for coming everyone.
[12:22 PM] Truble Brewin: Dan, albertir and team. Pricing is more than fair. I was sweating the small stuff. Thank you!
[12:22 PM] Jupiter Rowland: Miela: Because OSgrid needs more money than what comes in with donations. It's either that or buh-bye OSgrid.
[12:22 PM] Umberrock 404: miela a server in datacenter is it free ?
[12:22 PM] Arya paul: Thanks, Dolma
[12:22 PM] cilla teebrook: Hugs to you
[12:22 PM] Deanna Janus: then, please, put the conditions and options, good clear in the WWW, so, we know what to do
[12:22 PM] Sindy Fox: Thanks guys
[12:22 PM] George Clarke: what do people not understand that the servers canr run without money its not that hard
[12:22 PM] Miela Ronas: lol ok thanks
[12:22 PM] Sherree Parx: thank you dan and albert
[12:22 PM] Pin Deluca: Please can you make the pricing structure a little clearer - Thank you you
[12:22 PM] Clairwil Oh: Thank you, OS Grid Amin, for what you do. (I am tempted to add, but fear to say it: at least you are not cutting off our assets and limiting the absurd toys we feel that we need to store in the osgrid servers).
[12:23 PM] Robyn Starbrook: George does OSGrid pay for my servers ?
[12:23 PM] Matilda Charron: hahaha
[12:23 PM] Orion Gizmo: this new syste, is much fairer to all. Rather than the whole load being on the donators, now everyone who runs a region will contribute to the services the regions use.
[12:23 PM] Miela Ronas: exactly robyn
[12:23 PM] Umberrock 404: pin is easy FIRST region connected are free after you paid 1 usd per regions
[12:23 PM] Umberrock 404: in use
[12:23 PM] Arya paul: Yes, OSG Admins - you are appreciated more than you know!
[12:23 PM] Jupiter Rowland: Also, I don't believe that each region in a var is billed separately. That'd be suicidal for OSgrid.
[12:23 PM] Joshua 7: what size region?
[12:24 PM] Alien Jay: 512x512
