'''[ Note: the below timestamps are in UTC-8 ]'''

[2010/06/13 14:02] Little lag hang in there folks!!
[2010/06/13 14:03] Nebadon Izumi: cool so where to start!
[2010/06/13 14:03] Dave Coyle: ok, so, welcome to the osgrid town hall meeting. just a reminder that there's an in-world group, "OSGrid Town Hall Meeting", which you can join to get meeting reminders...
[2010/06/13 14:03] Haku Mhia: only a little ?
[2010/06/13 14:03] Nebadon Izumi: heh those multiple logins at once are rough
[2010/06/13 14:04] Dave Coyle: first bit we wanted to talk about: OSGrid's 3rd Birthday (OSG3B)
[2010/06/13 14:04] Dave Coyle: how should we celebrate?
[2010/06/13 14:04] Taek Fang: woohoo
[2010/06/13 14:04] Amik Monda: already? My, how it's grown :-)
[2010/06/13 14:04] Nebadon Izumi: I am going to start a forum thread
[2010/06/13 14:04] Lani Global: celebrate!
[2010/06/13 14:04] Dave Coyle: official birthday is july 22... we could do something on the day, over the whole week, or both.
[2010/06/13 14:04] Lani Global: guzzle gigabytes.
[2010/06/13 14:04] Taek Fang: i sure am glad to be part of OSG
[2010/06/13 14:05] Dave Coyle: yay
[2010/06/13 14:05] Dave Coyle: we're glad you're here, too
[2010/06/13 14:05] Dave Coyle: mccabe suggested doing something that can only be done in opensim
[2010/06/13 14:05] Dave Coyle: if megaregion performance is up to it, i think that might be cool
[2010/06/13 14:06] Lani Global: crash 10 times in 10 minutes?
[2010/06/13 14:06] EL RODO: a race?
[2010/06/13 14:06] Lani Global: giggle.
[2010/06/13 14:06] Dave Coyle: or something else that's better or different here than in SL
[2010/06/13 14:06] Mercalia Beck: is the 3 years of Osgrid or opensim?
[2010/06/13 14:06] Dave Coyle: lani: haha. i;m sure we can arrange that.
[2010/06/13 14:06] Dave Coyle: osgrid
[2010/06/13 14:06] Dave Coyle: opensim's 3rd b-day was in january
[2010/06/13 14:06] Haku Mhia: well i think a region showcaseing some of the best content on this grid would be an idea
[2010/06/13 14:06] Dave Coyle: yes
[2010/06/13 14:06] EL RODO: builders contest - megaparty - LiveDjs - races
[2010/06/13 14:07] Lani Global: yes, a huge mega build.
[2010/06/13 14:07] Dave Coyle: last year we had booths people could reserve to show off their stuff
[2010/06/13 14:07] Dave Coyle: and a stage and a club
[2010/06/13 14:07] Warin Cascabel: I liked the displays last year... showed off quite a bit of local talent. :)
[2010/06/13 14:07] Dave Coyle: yeah
[2010/06/13 14:07] Mercalia Beck: need a sim or 2 like the buringing man in SL?
[2010/06/13 14:07] OtakuMegane Desu: Megaregion is probably one of the best for showing what can be done. ANd it has practical points too building-wise
[2010/06/13 14:08] Nebadon Izumi: ok Forum is made
[2010/06/13 14:08] Nebadon Izumi: http://www.osgrid.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=25
[2010/06/13 14:08] Haku Mhia: thats true but mega's strain servers alot more
[2010/06/13 14:08] Nebadon Izumi: i will add more details into the forums after this meeting
[2010/06/13 14:08] OtakuMegane Desu: Not if they're small. Anything from 3x3 or smaller shouldn't cause any more strain than the same regions separately
[2010/06/13 14:08] Dave Coyle: but how much is "a lot"?
[2010/06/13 14:08] Dave Coyle: let's assume for discussion that these osg3b regions will be running on their own beefy server
[2010/06/13 14:08] OtakuMegane Desu: That too
[2010/06/13 14:08] Taek Fang: Zardoz have a seat
[2010/06/13 14:09] Haku Mhia: any1 have a beefy server ?
[2010/06/13 14:09] Lani Global: one of the big things here for creators is megaprims
[2010/06/13 14:09] Taek Fang: i don't think a dual-core would be strong enough
[2010/06/13 14:09] Lani Global: and it's something that i have enjoyed here that i could not do in "the other place"
[2010/06/13 14:09] Fu Barr: hello all
[2010/06/13 14:09] Lani Global: hi Fu
[2010/06/13 14:09] Mercalia Beck: hi Fu
[2010/06/13 14:10] Haku Mhia: well we could whip out mega's on sl just not creat them inworld
[2010/06/13 14:10] Dave Coyle: last year we ran on a box with quad-core xeons and 8GB RAM hosted in a data center
[2010/06/13 14:10] OtakuMegane Desu: No you'd want quad-core just for avgatar count alone
[2010/06/13 14:10] Warin Cascabel: Meshed sculpties are another huge strength of OpenSim.
[2010/06/13 14:10] Fu Barr: hey lani!
[2010/06/13 14:10] Fu Barr: warin
[2010/06/13 14:10] Nebadon Izumi: actually it was this box dave
[2010/06/13 14:10] Nebadon Izumi: lol
[2010/06/13 14:10] Fu Barr: and you lovely unrezzed grey peeps
[2010/06/13 14:10] Nebadon Izumi: same one that runs Lbsa and Bade
[2010/06/13 14:10] Haku Mhia: defenetly
[2010/06/13 14:10] Dave Coyle: neb: yes, i remember running all around NJ to get it plugged in. ;)
[2010/06/13 14:10] EL RODO: pictures contest - video contest, for showing regions
[2010/06/13 14:10] OtakuMegane Desu: Megaprims, megaregions, meshed scuplties and no build height limits are 4 of the big things opensim has to show off.
[2010/06/13 14:10] Nebadon Izumi: hehe ya that was a fun week for sure
[2010/06/13 14:10] Haku Mhia: what about the new welcome ceter you guys have been working on ?
[2010/06/13 14:11] Haku Mhia: *centre
[2010/06/13 14:11] Nebadon Izumi: hello to everyone just getting here
[2010/06/13 14:11] Taek Fang: Dynamic Textures from website addreses
[2010/06/13 14:11] Nebadon Izumi: Topic is "OSG3B Celebration Ideas"
[2010/06/13 14:11] Taek Fang: i think that's pretty big since SL doesn't do that
[2010/06/13 14:11] Warin Cascabel: What about it, Haku?
[2010/06/13 14:11] Deana Later: sounds like the wonderland house of cards, more megas then you can believe
[2010/06/13 14:11] Haku Mhia: coulnd it's opening be tied into the celabration ?
[2010/06/13 14:11] Dave Coyle: yeah... warin, will the welcome station be sufficiently ready in a month to show it off?
[2010/06/13 14:11] Nebadon Izumi: hehe
[2010/06/13 14:12] Warin Cascabel: I can do that, Dave - would have to stop work on the Web site, but sounds like you're ready to dig into that too.
[2010/06/13 14:12] Haku Mhia: if were talking about showcaseing some of this grids best builds thats a prime example
[2010/06/13 14:12] Warin Cascabel: :)
[2010/06/13 14:13] Zardoz Firanelli: How about we get the search working for teh 3rd Bday?
[2010/06/13 14:13] Dave Coyle: yeah, i can focus on web stuff if that frees you up for the welcome station. we should have that build's awesomeness on display.
[2010/06/13 14:13] OtakuMegane Desu: Yeah
[2010/06/13 14:13] Mercalia Beck: are we going to advertise in SL?
[2010/06/13 14:13] Malada Inkwell: Hehehe! Advertise in SL? That's good
[2010/06/13 14:13] Taek Fang: Adverts may get accounts banned?
[2010/06/13 14:13] Haku Mhia: lmao banner add on xstreet?
[2010/06/13 14:14] Warin Cascabel: OK, I'll finish up the Welcome Station. I've got a number of submissions for Newbie Packs, but could always use more original or verifiably public-domain stuff (original preferred).
[2010/06/13 14:14] Heather ORiley: but who really needs an SL account O.o
[2010/06/13 14:14] Dave Coyle: search. so.... i've never actually looked into how search works. are the urls something hard-coded in the viewer?
[2010/06/13 14:14] Lani Global: theme... "MegaPrims, MegaRegions, MegaMesh, MegaFun"
[2010/06/13 14:14] OtakuMegane Desu: Not literal billboards I don't think. But yeah, this would be prime period to get the word out
[2010/06/13 14:14] Haku Mhia: well i can give you skins
[2010/06/13 14:14] Mercalia Beck: we need a standard poster?
[2010/06/13 14:14] Dave Coyle: taek: there's been opensim and osgrid stuff in SL for ages
[2010/06/13 14:14] Mercalia Beck: to display there
[2010/06/13 14:14] Mercalia Beck: ?
[2010/06/13 14:14] Taek Fang: Alright
[2010/06/13 14:15] Dave Coyle: osgrid actually had a booth at SL6B last year
[2010/06/13 14:15] Deana Later: well i could open one of the wonderland structures as a mega prim example
[2010/06/13 14:15] Taek Fang: As far as the Search functions it seems to be both server and client sided.
[2010/06/13 14:15] Taek Fang: however the server side is mysql Access with a php front end
[2010/06/13 14:15] Warin Cascabel: Can't answer the question about how the viewer works - I don't see any Imprudence devs here, but perhaps they could answer about how search works in general terms that won't violate the OpenSim restriction.
[2010/06/13 14:15] Taek Fang: the rest is client side
[2010/06/13 14:16] Zardoz Firanelli: I think the search not working effects new user retention.
[2010/06/13 14:16] Taek Fang: I've been running test with Imprudence viewer and php to see what kind of strings are used with the viewer's search function
[2010/06/13 14:16] Dave Coyle: k. i'll ask mccabe if the viewer can be pointed to different urls.
[2010/06/13 14:16] Nebadon Izumi: there are some pics of SL6B booth
[2010/06/13 14:16] Haku Mhia: the search feature is software related not birthday related thou
[2010/06/13 14:17] Zardoz Firanelli: Yes, but a big party will attract loads of new people.
[2010/06/13 14:17] Taek Fang: Dave the viewer's search can be pointed to another URL
[2010/06/13 14:17] OtakuMegane Desu: There's dozens of things that would be nice to have workin because it would help retain some of the visitors. But it can't all be done unfortunately.
[2010/06/13 14:18] EL RODO: retain visitors is that important? xD
[2010/06/13 14:18] Fu Barr: dont think the 3b celebrations should be about getting features ready.
[2010/06/13 14:18] Dave Coyle: it would be nice to fix at least 1 thing users care about. since 2 of the things we announced last year don't really work anymore. :)
[2010/06/13 14:18] Tore Vyper: ..sorry to butt in, but profile picks would be a major leap... if this hasn't been said already. At least then there's a standard viewable LM
[2010/06/13 14:18] Fu Barr: seems more like a celebration of what we have now and how cool it is so far.
[2010/06/13 14:18] Mercalia Beck: one thing that is needed is for us to be around to welcome new ppl
[2010/06/13 14:19] Mercalia Beck: and direct ppl
[2010/06/13 14:19] Mercalia Beck: if needed
[2010/06/13 14:19] Doctor Rorrim: Linden Free Landscape//hee
[2010/06/13 14:19] Dave Coyle: fu: i agree. but i'd be interested in search specifically because it would help people find birthday-related stuff.
[2010/06/13 14:19] Lani Global: that's the big thing... noob preparation... a bunch of avatars to give them
[2010/06/13 14:19] Fu Barr: a fewn really nice builds and a few sims on dedicated servers.
[2010/06/13 14:19] Taek Fang: well a new starting area would be really helpful
[2010/06/13 14:19] Malada Inkwell: The greeters should have notecards and other items ready to give out, too
[2010/06/13 14:19] EL RODO: i'm assuming that there will be a party & music!
[2010/06/13 14:19] Taek Fang: lots of landmarks
[2010/06/13 14:19] Fu Barr: and have peeps that login arrive on those sims
[2010/06/13 14:19] Taek Fang: instructions
[2010/06/13 14:19] Taek Fang: etc
[2010/06/13 14:20] Fu Barr: and then possible themed sim tours.
[2010/06/13 14:20] OtakuMegane Desu: There's a lot more for newcomers than a year ago, it just has to be sorted together.
[2010/06/13 14:20] Haku Mhia: the welcome center is alwas active with av's well lbsa is for example
[2010/06/13 14:20] Nebadon Izumi: well we are hoping people will plan their own parties
[2010/06/13 14:20] Nebadon Izumi: i made forum page
[2010/06/13 14:20] Taek Fang: i good idea would be in-world assitence for people that want to run a connected sim to osgrid
[2010/06/13 14:20] Nebadon Izumi: so you can post about what you going to do if you want to participate
[2010/06/13 14:20] Fu Barr: formthe birthday soms - or as we are a loose knit suleban style complex - we could even just group the showcase sims togehter in one part of the grid.
[2010/06/13 14:20] Lani Global: need a bunch of "noob avatar in a box - complete"
[2010/06/13 14:20] Nebadon Izumi: last yet we had several parties over 5 days
[2010/06/13 14:21] Nebadon Izumi: http://www.osgrid.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=25
[2010/06/13 14:21] Nebadon Izumi: here is the forum for posting your ideas and plans
[2010/06/13 14:21] Nebadon Izumi: we dont have to decide today either we still have some time
[2010/06/13 14:21] Nebadon Izumi: today is about getting the ball rolling
[2010/06/13 14:21] Taek Fang: I think there should be a two day showcase
[2010/06/13 14:21] OtakuMegane Desu: True lol
[2010/06/13 14:21] Taek Fang: :D
[2010/06/13 14:21] Taek Fang: 1 day for mega prims.. and another day for the smaller stuff
[2010/06/13 14:21] Nebadon Izumi: figure next weeks town hall will be the same topic
[2010/06/13 14:21] Heather ORiley: could always have the noos land in the new welcome center and then go through the hypergrid at the end which could essentially port them to the party region, and then place LM givers around that region which showcase other themed regions?
[2010/06/13 14:21] Taek Fang: or split 1 day in half for both
[2010/06/13 14:22] Heather ORiley: noobs* even
[2010/06/13 14:22] Nebadon Izumi: we might be able to do that during the party
[2010/06/13 14:22] Nebadon Izumi: we'll see
[2010/06/13 14:22] OtakuMegane Desu: Demonstrating hypergrid would be great
[2010/06/13 14:22] Zardoz Firanelli: What if someone went around and picked teh best existing regions, and we move them all together is one area for a few days?
[2010/06/13 14:22] Nebadon Izumi: have all new people land at the Welcome Station
[2010/06/13 14:22] Nebadon Izumi: if Warin is ok with that
[2010/06/13 14:22] Nebadon Izumi: thinks its ready enough
[2010/06/13 14:22] Zardoz Firanelli: Theamed what exists.
[2010/06/13 14:22] Taek Fang: how about awards given to people by people for prim ideas and inovation of scripts and what not
[2010/06/13 14:22] Taek Fang: ?
[2010/06/13 14:22] Haku Mhia: thats something hypergrid ... we could mention on the other grids and try to make shure the party region is hyper enabled
[2010/06/13 14:23] Taek Fang: like a vote of stuff
[2010/06/13 14:23] Fu Barr: i also think that it will be totally important to explain the nuances between opensim and OSgrid - lots and lots of SL peeps are so set in the walled garden mindset that half of what opensim/osgrid is about they'll miss
[2010/06/13 14:23] Lani Global: we should start testing welcome station and the alternative redirect to lbsa soon... if we are going to prepare
[2010/06/13 14:23] Warin Cascabel: Not quite ready at this precise instant, but I'll do as much as I can to rough out the things that are immediately needed.
[2010/06/13 14:23] OtakuMegane Desu: Hell, been here over a year and it's still neat landing on a region outside the grid. :)
[2010/06/13 14:23] Nebadon Izumi: ok well i was just thinking lets give it a go maybe just during the celebration week
[2010/06/13 14:23] Fu Barr: thank you doctor!
[2010/06/13 14:23] Mercalia Beck: where is it?
[2010/06/13 14:23] Nebadon Izumi: then we could fall back to Lbsa once the party was over
[2010/06/13 14:23] Doctor Rorrim: yw
[2010/06/13 14:23] Mercalia Beck: can we visit it?
[2010/06/13 14:23] Warin Cascabel: I can get the rough stuff done this week, Nebadon.
[2010/06/13 14:24] Nebadon Izumi: sure if you have not been to "OSgrid Welcome Station" then you should check it out when you have some time
[2010/06/13 14:24] Nebadon Izumi: its awesome
[2010/06/13 14:24] Warin Cascabel: Main thing to do is the maglev train and the newbie pack vendors / destination teleporters.
[2010/06/13 14:24] Nebadon Izumi: be sure to ride the elevator!
[2010/06/13 14:24] Nebadon Izumi: hehe
[2010/06/13 14:24] Nebadon Izumi: ya, well i think even if we dont get that far by the party
[2010/06/13 14:24] Nebadon Izumi: its still cool for the week i think
[2010/06/13 14:24] Malada Inkwell: You got a train working? Far out.
[2010/06/13 14:24] OtakuMegane Desu: Got a maglev working?
[2010/06/13 14:24] Deana Later: so do we want live music?
[2010/06/13 14:24] Nebadon Izumi: not yet Otaku, but it will be part of the experience there
[2010/06/13 14:24] Nebadon Izumi: sure Deana
[2010/06/13 14:24] Nebadon Izumi: live events would be awesome
[2010/06/13 14:24] Deana Later: k
[2010/06/13 14:25] Nebadon Izumi: we had several last year
[2010/06/13 14:25] Nebadon Izumi: check this out
[2010/06/13 14:25] Haku Mhia: maby a history of the os exibit too? show how it has progressed#
[2010/06/13 14:25] Lani Global: the biggest problem if we have a lot of noobs hitting here at once, is not how to deal with them after they get here, it is to enable a system to redirect them to alternative noob landings if the first place is full
[2010/06/13 14:25] Deana Later: particular days and times?
[2010/06/13 14:26] Warin Cascabel: There is a fallback capability, Lani
[2010/06/13 14:26] Haku Mhia: back from the early days f no pirm av's to now
[2010/06/13 14:26] Lani Global: we need to run that fallback? test it?
[2010/06/13 14:27] Lani Global: we could have a 'dry run'
[2010/06/13 14:27] Haku Mhia: but lani how dose this fit into 3b celabration?
[2010/06/13 14:27] Lani Global: how about if a bunch of us bring in alts to test the "fallback plan"
[2010/06/13 14:27] Nebadon Izumi: I am uploading some video of last years event
[2010/06/13 14:27] Nebadon Izumi: for those who didnt get to attend
[2010/06/13 14:27] Nebadon Izumi: you can see what some of the celebrations were like
[2010/06/13 14:28] Heather ORiley: temporarily create secondary new welcome station regions with hypergrid redirects at the end, that new welcome station is surely the right way to go seeings how it "directs" you with the green particle line, which can lead to the hypergrid... in which they could be ported directly from the noob area to the "party"
[2010/06/13 14:28] Nebadon Izumi: should be up before the end of the meeting
[2010/06/13 14:29] Deana Later: i can book some live musicians but i will need at least a rough calender and venue locations
[2010/06/13 14:29] EL RODO: Arielle! Aloha!!
[2010/06/13 14:29] Nebadon Izumi: hypergrid wont be availble there for a while unfortunatly
[2010/06/13 14:29] Warin Cascabel: No need for hypergrid, really
[2010/06/13 14:29] Nebadon Izumi: but maybe we can have a HyperGrid Station up
[2010/06/13 14:29] Nebadon Izumi: so that people can do some hypergriding
[2010/06/13 14:29] Warin Cascabel: Can just have multiple copies of the welcome station, which will all teleport people to the celebration regions.
[2010/06/13 14:30] Heather ORiley: maybe not a need for it, but it would certainly turn the heads of new residents
[2010/06/13 14:30] Lani Global: IMHO, the celebration should include 3 parts: (1) A continuous Celebration Party (2) A Showcase Tour (3) A noob outreach program
[2010/06/13 14:30] Warin Cascabel: We would need multiple sets of greeters, though, so newcomers don't end up in a barren welcome station.
[2010/06/13 14:30] Nebadon Izumi: ya sounds good i like that idea Warin
[2010/06/13 14:30] Nebadon Izumi: K well we are hoping that alot of you will also want to showcase your sims and maybe host some parties too
[2010/06/13 14:31] Nebadon Izumi: so if your interested in that starting thinking about what your going to do
[2010/06/13 14:31] Heather ORiley: just get everyone that hangs out in LBSA so chill over at the welcome station during the festivities
[2010/06/13 14:31] Arielle Popstar: Hi EL :)
[2010/06/13 14:31] Warin Cascabel: True, Heather. :)
[2010/06/13 14:31] Heather ORiley: :p
[2010/06/13 14:31] Nebadon Izumi: start posting ideas in the froums as well, we can start forumulating a plan over the next few weeks
[2010/06/13 14:31] Nebadon Izumi: hopefully we can make sure no ones parties step on each other
[2010/06/13 14:32] Lani Global: one region probably can't hold everyone who wants to go to a party
[2010/06/13 14:32] Nebadon Izumi: probably no Lani
[2010/06/13 14:32] Nebadon Izumi: thats why were trying to spread it out this year
[2010/06/13 14:32] Simulator Version shouts: OpenSim 0.6.9 (Post_Fixes) bdeda18: 2010-06-04 18:54:58 +0100 (Unix/Mono)
[2010/06/13 14:32] Nebadon Izumi: and not have it all be in just 1 monster region
[2010/06/13 14:32] Lani Global: yes
[2010/06/13 14:32] Nebadon Izumi: people can sorta mingle around
[2010/06/13 14:32] Doctor Rorrim shouts: MUST GO//RL===my input//Buffy+++lady gaga//and pretty flags//bye bye
[2010/06/13 14:32] Heather ORiley: region hopping
[2010/06/13 14:32] Nebadon Izumi: see ya Doctor Rorrim
[2010/06/13 14:32] Taek Fang: how about parceling out the mega region so there's differnet types of music?
[2010/06/13 14:33] Taek Fang: or multiple DJs
[2010/06/13 14:33] Jeeper Shim: see ya Doc
[2010/06/13 14:33] Zardoz Firanelli: What about teleporters that randomly take you to party zones?
[2010/06/13 14:33] Amik Monda: Teleport stations with descriptions of the various parties at the entry ports?
[2010/06/13 14:33] Lani Global: ^^
[2010/06/13 14:33] Amik Monda: yes, that :-)
[2010/06/13 14:33] Warin Cascabel: Well, if the parties don't overlap, we *could* make teleporters that take you to whatever party is going on at the moment.
[2010/06/13 14:33] EL RODO: most ppl can't host a party on their regions because we don't have the right specs to host many residents. so maybe, someone could setup 1 megaregion for ppl interested in doing something for the celebration day
[2010/06/13 14:33] Lani Global: Teleport stations at all the Tour and Showcase
[2010/06/13 14:33] Warin Cascabel: And if they do, perhaps a menu to select which one to go to.
[2010/06/13 14:34] Haku Mhia: well all sims can have the same music stream on and possably make a group for every1 to talk in
[2010/06/13 14:34] Dave Coyle: that would be good. full booths like last year, but also have a collection of teleporters.
[2010/06/13 14:34] Mercalia Beck: may be have info how to set up your own sim here?
[2010/06/13 14:34] Lani Global: all the participating sims could use the same teleporter ring
[2010/06/13 14:34] Nebadon Izumi: ya instead of everyone trying to put everything they have into the booths
[2010/06/13 14:34] Mercalia Beck: thats what most ppl who comne here ask
[2010/06/13 14:34] Nebadon Izumi: just a small sampling with teleports to their own places
[2010/06/13 14:34] Haku Mhia: but you have the fun of organiseing the stream, getting enough dj's and stuff ;like that
[2010/06/13 14:35] Warin Cascabel: I'm working on a comprehensive "Connecting to OSgrid" tutorial that doesn't assume any computer knowledge, Mercalia, to address the problems that many newcomers seem to have when connecting a region.
[2010/06/13 14:35] Lani Global: Haku's idea of the stream is great.
[2010/06/13 14:35] Taek Fang: Club Sphere can donate a DJ for a party
[2010/06/13 14:35] Dave Coyle: taek: great
[2010/06/13 14:35] Mercalia Beck: u can bet thats what many ppl will ask about
[2010/06/13 14:35] Nebadon Izumi: ya start rounding up your DJ friends and live performers
[2010/06/13 14:35] Nebadon Izumi: the more stuff we have going on the better
[2010/06/13 14:36] Taek Fang: If i have to i can also DJ
[2010/06/13 14:36] Dave Coyle: a primwords tournament?
[2010/06/13 14:36] Warin Cascabel: Sure
[2010/06/13 14:36] Nebadon Izumi: that would be fun
[2010/06/13 14:36] Haku Mhia: you know the stream though would need to be able to handle 100 connections aprox
[2010/06/13 14:36] Taek Fang: should be to hard to rent a paid server for that i think..
[2010/06/13 14:36] Zardoz Firanelli: And in varried geographic locals
[2010/06/13 14:36] Taek Fang: if there's funding for it
[2010/06/13 14:37] Lani Global: We need regular announcements on the music stream... like parodies of commercial advertisement spots... but humous... and about all the places on the tour and showcase and parties
[2010/06/13 14:37] Taek Fang: could be a good idea to get some sound making guys together to make some
[2010/06/13 14:37] Mercalia Beck: those messages we got to day? can they have lms built in?
[2010/06/13 14:38] Taek Fang: and who DJs can play those at random intervals
[2010/06/13 14:38] Warin Cascabel: Not yet, Mercalia, unfortunately.
[2010/06/13 14:38] Mercalia Beck: might be use ful to direct ppl
[2010/06/13 14:38] Lani Global: need to possibly feed several audio stream hosts from same audio
[2010/06/13 14:38] Taek Fang: in Club Sphere we use SHoutCastDNAS for steaming to the listners, fur is broadcasters we use SAM Bradcasting that features a script to kick other DJS XD
[2010/06/13 14:39] Nebadon Izumi: ok here is some video of last years Open Events of OSG2B
[2010/06/13 14:39] Nebadon Izumi: couple more uploading now
[2010/06/13 14:39] Taek Fang: not sure if that info was infomative..
[2010/06/13 14:40] Haku Mhia: well kinda but even with the shoutcast and sam you still need a prety bulky streaming server to handle all the connections
[2010/06/13 14:40] Mercalia Beck: maybe slide shows of the sims that are too slow for ppl to visit?
[2010/06/13 14:40] Amik Monda: I've noticed the same thing that Mercalia mentioned, the interest in running one's own sim... a booth somewhere saying something like "If Amik can run a region on his coal-fired TRS-80, so can you!"
[2010/06/13 14:40] Mercalia Beck: in the welcome place
[2010/06/13 14:40] Haku Mhia: if this is gunna be grid wide there will be alot of ppl on alot of sims connecting
[2010/06/13 14:40] Zardoz Firanelli: You just need 1 stream with info that the DJ's latch onto and they can feed that into the listens stream, just mix it in.
[2010/06/13 14:40] Arielle Popstar: what would osgrid be able to handle in concurent users at this time?
[2010/06/13 14:40] Dave Coyle: all of them!
[2010/06/13 14:40] Warin Cascabel: :)
[2010/06/13 14:41] Mercalia Beck: lots of sim slide shows a cheap way for ppl to show off thier sim?
[2010/06/13 14:41] Dave Coyle: we don't know. but we'd scale up whatever we'd need to scale up.
[2010/06/13 14:41] Taek Fang: IN order to handle that amount of listeners, the ShoutCastDNAS would have to be hosted on a high capacity system, which would be paid for services at this point
[2010/06/13 14:41] Nebadon Izumi: http://nebadon2025.com/osgvids/osg2b_shine_on_you_crazy_diamond_480p.mp4
[2010/06/13 14:41] Malada Inkwell: I think you'll need a separate sim to handle the people wanting to run their own sims
[2010/06/13 14:41] Calinacase Willowtree: hey, are we seperated into groups, or can we just take seats anywhere?
[2010/06/13 14:41] Warin Cascabel: Heh, Malada. :)
[2010/06/13 14:41] Zardoz Firanelli: What resources are needed?
[2010/06/13 14:41] Warin Cascabel: Sit anywhere you like, Calinacase.
[2010/06/13 14:41] Arielle Popstar: at Mitches wedding, 150 concurrent seemed to close the grid down
[2010/06/13 14:41] Deana Later: i have a 100 listener shoutcast stream
[2010/06/13 14:41] Taek Fang: Cali seat anywhere
[2010/06/13 14:42] Heather ORiley: I totally think we should get Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder to host this parteh ;p lmao
[2010/06/13 14:42] Taek Fang: Deana 100 is a daily constant on this server
[2010/06/13 14:42] Deana Later: yes
[2010/06/13 14:42] Taek Fang: somrthing like this would be alot higher for a steam in this kind of event
[2010/06/13 14:42] Jeeper Shim: I have to run. see ya later
[2010/06/13 14:42] Haku Mhia: for streaming ? heres you math . dj streams out at 96kps. to the server . the server streams out to every1 listening at 96 kps so if you have 100 ppl listening that is 96kpsx100
[2010/06/13 14:42] Dave Coyle: bye jeeper
[2010/06/13 14:42] Warin Cascabel: Bye, Jeeper
[2010/06/13 14:43] Deana Later: but we assume the trafic will be heavier during the celebrations
[2010/06/13 14:43] Arielle Popstar: tc Jeeper
[2010/06/13 14:43] Nebadon Izumi: http://nebadon2025.com/osgvids/thats_amore_480p.mp4
[2010/06/13 14:43] Nebadon Izumi: just some samples of last years events
[2010/06/13 14:43] Zardoz Firanelli: Yes, but you can daisy chain shoutcast servers
[2010/06/13 14:43] Haku Mhia: then tak in the processing required for the server to handle all thouse ip's and stream the music to them
[2010/06/13 14:43] Nebadon Izumi: was much fun last year
[2010/06/13 14:43] Dave Coyle: arielle: i dont remember the specifics of mitches wedding, but i remember there being sim problems and dumping everyone into lbsa.
[2010/06/13 14:43] Lani Global: Just send the same audio feed to different hosting stream servers... then divide up the stream URLs between the different sims
[2010/06/13 14:43] Taek Fang: well
[2010/06/13 14:44] Taek Fang: some sim owners pay for their own hosting
[2010/06/13 14:44] Taek Fang: so we just find out who they are
[2010/06/13 14:44] Dave Coyle: arielle: and there are things we know we can scale up between today and next month
[2010/06/13 14:44] Taek Fang: and see if they want to have the streams on their sims
[2010/06/13 14:44] Arielle Popstar: the whole grid slowed to a crwl Dave and then finally crashed\
[2010/06/13 14:44] Taek Fang: and they can split off on their hosts
[2010/06/13 14:44] Arielle Popstar: ok
[2010/06/13 14:45] Arielle Popstar: Hate to invite peepz from s/l to have it all crash
[2010/06/13 14:45] Heather ORiley: psh people from sl are used to crashing
[2010/06/13 14:45] Arielle Popstar: becaUSE it gets overloaded
[2010/06/13 14:45] Deana Later: ღ¸.•* LoL *•.¸ღ
[2010/06/13 14:45] Nebadon Izumi: http://nebadon2025.com/osgvids all videos will be here
[2010/06/13 14:45] Malada Inkwell: I've seen a lot more crashes here than on SL
[2010/06/13 14:46] Haku Mhia: well os is still an alpha product rember
[2010/06/13 14:46] Taek Fang: i haven't seen SL crash at all
[2010/06/13 14:46] Taek Fang: only client crashes
[2010/06/13 14:46] Mercalia Beck: u need to think about the ppl who host on their own pc who cant really have an open day
[2010/06/13 14:46] Heather ORiley: yeah well at one time sl was just as crashy if not moreso, we all start somewhere, its part of the growing process, think of it as..."growing pains"
[2010/06/13 14:46] Arielle Popstar: lol, s/l been crashing regular lately
[2010/06/13 14:47] Nebadon Izumi: you must have never attended SL birthdays
[2010/06/13 14:47] Mercalia Beck: #i m sure theyt have stuff they want to show what they hav ebeen doing
[2010/06/13 14:47] Nebadon Izumi: they crash every hour
[2010/06/13 14:47] Nebadon Izumi: or more
[2010/06/13 14:47] Malada Inkwell: SL just laid off a boat load of people
[2010/06/13 14:47] Nebadon Izumi: Burning man too the sims crash alot
[2010/06/13 14:47] Nebadon Izumi: or Burning Life
[2010/06/13 14:47] Haku Mhia: sl login servers go up and down all the time
[2010/06/13 14:48] Fu Barr: i exibited on the SLB6 thing last year - and I gave up before the week weas out - pulled my exhibit because the lag was just too bad.
[2010/06/13 14:48] Nebadon Izumi: ya SL6B was pretty bad
[2010/06/13 14:48] Nebadon Izumi: it was fun and all
[2010/06/13 14:48] Nebadon Izumi: but the sims crashed and lagged out a lot
[2010/06/13 14:48] Nebadon Izumi: i couldnt get to my booth for the 1st 3 hours of the event
[2010/06/13 14:49] Nebadon Izumi: but we'll get past it with good managment
[2010/06/13 14:49] Nebadon Izumi: its going to crash
[2010/06/13 14:49] Fu Barr: anyhow - that's going to be an issue here on OSgrid if you allow non dedicated servers to be part of the showcase
[2010/06/13 14:49] Nebadon Izumi: but we were paying attention to things we'll anticpate it
[2010/06/13 14:49] Nebadon Izumi: and respond accordingly
[2010/06/13 14:49] Nebadon Izumi: maybe not we'll see it will be fun finding out, the more events we have going on though
[2010/06/13 14:50] Nebadon Izumi: the less impact any one sim will see
[2010/06/13 14:50] Nebadon Izumi: people can bounce around a bit and not overload any one sim to much
[2010/06/13 14:50] Lani Global: Our best strategy: To do what we can to disperse visitors evenly so it doens't crash
[2010/06/13 14:50] Malada Inkwell: "OS Grid - crashes are part of the celebration!"
[2010/06/13 14:50] Nebadon Izumi: hehe yep
[2010/06/13 14:50] Dave Coyle: fu: there will be a core area run on osgrid-managed machines
[2010/06/13 14:50] Zardoz Firanelli: Yes random Teleporters...
[2010/06/13 14:50] Nebadon Izumi: if your not ready for your sim crashing alot and potential overload, its probably better not to host the event directly
[2010/06/13 14:51] Fu Barr: dave : good - that'll be a start.
[2010/06/13 14:51] Haku Mhia: hahaha we should have a sim that crashes every 5 min on pourpose
[2010/06/13 14:51] Nebadon Izumi: but team up with others who have monster hardware and help them out
[2010/06/13 14:51] Lani Global: obviously, we will not be able to completely fix all bugs before the celebration!
[2010/06/13 14:51] Nebadon Izumi: but keep the ideas coming, lots of great ideas today
[2010/06/13 14:51] Lani Global: we should concentrate on what we have.
[2010/06/13 14:52] Fu Barr: what bugs - everything is perfect, plenty fresh fruit and vegetables....
[2010/06/13 14:52] Taek Fang: if possible the best thing to do... is cluster hardware to make the best possible megaregion system
[2010/06/13 14:52] Lani Global: Showcase what we have.
[2010/06/13 14:52] Nebadon Izumi: last year we planned the entire event in about 2 weeks
[2010/06/13 14:52] Nebadon Izumi: and it came off great
[2010/06/13 14:52] Nebadon Izumi: this time we have much more time than 2 weeks
[2010/06/13 14:52] Haku Mhia: well not just what we have where the grid is going like i said a history of the os exibiut maby a future of the os exibit too ?
[2010/06/13 14:52] Nebadon Izumi: so if we all keep at it work together it will be awesome
[2010/06/13 14:52] Mercalia Beck: when is it exactly?
[2010/06/13 14:52] Nebadon Izumi: heh might helpt to mention that eh?
[2010/06/13 14:53] Dave Coyle: yeah, we should talk about days
[2010/06/13 14:53] Nebadon Izumi: last year it was 22-26?
[2010/06/13 14:53] Nebadon Izumi: i beleive
[2010/06/13 14:53] Lani Global: Once we define it well, then we can have teams of people take on each part.
[2010/06/13 14:53] Nebadon Izumi: or 22-28?
[2010/06/13 14:53] Nebadon Izumi: i dont remember now
[2010/06/13 14:53] Taek Fang: i am down to assit
[2010/06/13 14:53] Taek Fang: assist
[2010/06/13 14:53] Fu Barr: maybe that data can go on page in the elgg system?
[2010/06/13 14:53] Nebadon Izumi: let me look on website
[2010/06/13 14:53] Nebadon Izumi: my brain is borked
[2010/06/13 14:53] Taek Fang: elaine you're nuded.
[2010/06/13 14:53] Mercalia Beck: if u want the little ppl here to contribute here you need to decide what they can contribute soon
[2010/06/13 14:54] Fu Barr: i know it;s a dirty world 'elgg' but it might be handy to have a single place with logistics info about the event
[2010/06/13 14:54] Elaine Eatslawn: great
[2010/06/13 14:54] Nebadon Izumi: looks like July 22-26 ?
[2010/06/13 14:54] Nebadon Izumi: that sound right Dave?
[2010/06/13 14:54] Warin Cascabel: It's what *they* want to contribute, Mercalia
[2010/06/13 14:54] Mercalia Beck: i mean not much time
[2010/06/13 14:54] Warin Cascabel: They can host events on their own regions, if they feel they have the bandwidth
[2010/06/13 14:54] Taek Fang: okay you're good now elaine
[2010/06/13 14:54] Mercalia Beck: thats the point
[2010/06/13 14:54] Lani Global: (1) Party Regions. (2) Build Showcase Regions. (3) Noob Help Regions / Landings
[2010/06/13 14:54] Mercalia Beck: mny dont have the band widhgt
[2010/06/13 14:54] Warin Cascabel: If we do something again like we did last year, they can put out displays in the celebration region(s)
[2010/06/13 14:55] Mercalia Beck: the best they can do is some pics
[2010/06/13 14:55] Mercalia Beck: maybe
[2010/06/13 14:55] Dave Coyle: neb: yeah, 22-26 last year
[2010/06/13 14:55] Dave Coyle: wed - sun
[2010/06/13 14:55] Mercalia Beck: in a slidw show
[2010/06/13 14:55] Warin Cascabel: If they want to host live music or run games, etc. on the celebration regions, that's up to THEM - we won't tell people what to do.
[2010/06/13 14:55] Mercalia Beck: which is really what the new ppl want to see
[2010/06/13 14:55] Data Flow: you can use my city if you want
[2010/06/13 14:55] Mercalia Beck: what the little ppl can do
[2010/06/13 14:55] Mercalia Beck: ?
[2010/06/13 14:56] Taek Fang: i can help with music orginizations
[2010/06/13 14:56] Taek Fang: region/sim whatever
[2010/06/13 14:56] Dave Coyle: toughts on using the same dates this year? thursday, july 22 - monday, july 26?
[2010/06/13 14:56] Lani Global: one of the biggest things that noobs ask for here is : Where's the stores? I need an avatar....
[2010/06/13 14:56] Nebadon Izumi: ya you guys should do load testing too
[2010/06/13 14:56] Fu Barr: actually new people want to find hair and skins and get out of ruth asap... is my experience...
[2010/06/13 14:56] Nebadon Izumi: if you need help coordinating a load test prior to the party
[2010/06/13 14:56] Nebadon Izumi: let me know
[2010/06/13 14:56] Nebadon Izumi: we can work something out
[2010/06/13 14:56] Warin Cascabel: Those dates are good for me, Dave.
[2010/06/13 14:56] Nebadon Izumi: this way we dont wa0it until the day of the party to find out its going to fail with 10 poele
[2010/06/13 14:56] Nebadon Izumi: people*
[2010/06/13 14:56] Malada Inkwell: How about creating a group for party planners?
[2010/06/13 14:57] Lani Global: it is EMBARASSING for many people to land as ruth
[2010/06/13 14:57] Nebadon Izumi: ok I will also do That Malada
[2010/06/13 14:57] Zardoz Firanelli: Why not do load testing and have your regions limited to that many Avs, to minimize crashes?
[2010/06/13 14:57] Nebadon Izumi: and post the info on the forums
[2010/06/13 14:57] Fu Barr: de ruthing is the only thing people do for days after landing here.
[2010/06/13 14:57] Nebadon Izumi: check on the forums later, and I will send out notice to the Town Hall meeting group
[2010/06/13 14:57] Nebadon Izumi: with the details on how to join the group
[2010/06/13 14:57] Taek Fang steals elaine
[2010/06/13 14:58] Warin Cascabel: The Welcome Station(s) will have a much wider range of avatars than Lbsa. I'll make sure those are up and running before the celebration.
[2010/06/13 14:58] Dave Coyle: well, if warin gets newbie av packs (donations welcome!), we could actually just add that stuff into new user inventory automatically on account creation if we wanted to
[2010/06/13 14:58] Nebadon Izumi: awesome
[2010/06/13 14:58] Lani Global: how about this: Creators of avatars can donate "avatar in a box" to provide for noobs.
[2010/06/13 14:58] Warin Cascabel: That works too, Dave.
[2010/06/13 14:58] Taek Fang: Perhaps a central donation location
[2010/06/13 14:59] Nebadon Izumi: Wright Plaza
[2010/06/13 14:59] Taek Fang: such has a prim box in LBSA could accept items
[2010/06/13 14:59] Dave Coyle: whichever would make the most sense from a user experience perspective
[2010/06/13 14:59] Nebadon Izumi: Lbsa is too busy for a drop box
[2010/06/13 14:59] Taek Fang: how about an empty sim ?
[2010/06/13 14:59] Warin Cascabel: The next generation of the Web site will have a "choose your avatar" when you register, so people won't arrive as Ruths. I don't know if the existing site can be modified to provide that functionality before the celebration.
[2010/06/13 14:59] Nebadon Izumi: but maybe we can do something like that, personally id rather speak with the people
[2010/06/13 14:59] Dave Coyle: i don't know if reading signs and clicking to get stuff is more intuitive than inv browsing
[2010/06/13 14:59] Kadams Oriley: I've been working on some cool weapons/staves/accessories, once im finished to a point where I like them I'll donate them.
[2010/06/13 14:59] Nebadon Izumi: and not just rely on drop offs
[2010/06/13 15:00] Nebadon Izumi: ya hard to say dave
[2010/06/13 15:00] Warin Cascabel: I think reading the signs and clicking is more intuitive to people who've never used Second Life
[2010/06/13 15:00] Haku Mhia: theres a spot at wright plaza you candrop stuf off at
[2010/06/13 15:00] Nebadon Izumi: we dont want to bloat up inventory server either
[2010/06/13 15:00] Nebadon Izumi: letting people select would reduce bloat
[2010/06/13 15:00] Lani Global: I volunteer to create 1 female and 1 male "avatar in a box" this is not "nooby" but tasteful, if we get more creators to do the same... then we can have a good selection.
[2010/06/13 15:00] Fu Barr doubts anybody will come that hasn;t used second life
[2010/06/13 15:00] Dave Coyle: we welcome bloat!
[2010/06/13 15:00] Warin Cascabel: but for guests/transplants from SL, just a note saying "you can find avatars in your inventory" should be good enough,.
[2010/06/13 15:00] Nebadon Izumi: hehe
[2010/06/13 15:00] Warin Cascabel: I know several people here who've never used SL, Fu.
[2010/06/13 15:00] Malada Inkwell: I don't know... I've seen newbies not read signs in LBSA and just ask about avatars
[2010/06/13 15:01] Dave Coyle: we could also just change ruth to something more... modern.
[2010/06/13 15:01] Warin Cascabel: True, Malada - but again, Lbsa isn't set up to force people to see the signs.
[2010/06/13 15:01] Zardoz Firanelli: A cloud.
[2010/06/13 15:01] Dave Coyle: ...as much of a fan of mullets as i am.
[2010/06/13 15:01] Nebadon Izumi: i have seen people after me saying see the green Line of particles pointing at the new user sign
[2010/06/13 15:01] Akimoto Xue: i do plan one makeing outfits and skins/ shapes that people can browse a mall like thing and they can choose for free
[2010/06/13 15:01] Fu Barr: why not change ruth into hippos....
[2010/06/13 15:01] Lani Global: a lot of people landing in LBSA cannot see the textures because they are on Emerald.
[2010/06/13 15:01] Nebadon Izumi: still not see it
[2010/06/13 15:01] Haku Mhia: yeag the signs are kinda hidden behind all us av's there
[2010/06/13 15:02] Warin Cascabel: We need a way for regions to detect people's viewer and say "Hey, this really isn't the best viewer for you to be using here."
[2010/06/13 15:02] Verbal Earthworm: the signs are on a sculpty that often doesnt rez fast enough
[2010/06/13 15:02] Fu Barr: the green particle line made sense to m after i hde nvigated the whole place... i mst be particularly stupid :)
[2010/06/13 15:02] Taek Fang: not to mention most viewers can't render those signs properly
[2010/06/13 15:02] Verbal Earthworm: i suggest using a normal prim
[2010/06/13 15:02] Warin Cascabel: "most"?
[2010/06/13 15:02] Dave Coyle: there's a lot going on in lbsa for a new person. in the welcome station it's just orientation.
[2010/06/13 15:02] Taek Fang: yes most viewers cannot render those boards
[2010/06/13 15:02] Nebadon Izumi: i dont know any vieewers that cant
[2010/06/13 15:02] Nebadon Izumi: you probably have HTTP textures on if it wont
[2010/06/13 15:02] Warin Cascabel: I only know of Emerald not being able to.
[2010/06/13 15:02] Taek Fang: herm..
[2010/06/13 15:03] Warin Cascabel: Yeah, HTTP textures also makes them not rez.
[2010/06/13 15:03] Nebadon Izumi: thats a viewer problem not a OpenSim problem
[2010/06/13 15:03] Arielle Popstar: the newest one doesnt
[2010/06/13 15:03] Kadams Oriley: I think meerkat was having a rough time.
[2010/06/13 15:03] Arielle Popstar: 1101 does fine
[2010/06/13 15:03] Elaine Eatslawn: Akimoto, that sounds like something people would understand right away.
[2010/06/13 15:03] Dave Coyle: meerkat is dead now
[2010/06/13 15:03] Nebadon Izumi: turn your bandwidth down
[2010/06/13 15:03] Warin Cascabel: Meerkat's still around? I thought the website had gone away.
[2010/06/13 15:03] Arielle Popstar: the new one has a fix available
[2010/06/13 15:03] Nebadon Izumi: if textures don and sculpty are not loading
[2010/06/13 15:03] Nebadon Izumi: its also possible your viewer bandwidth is too high
[2010/06/13 15:03] Nebadon Izumi: anything over 1000 your asking for major trouble on this grid
[2010/06/13 15:03] Nebadon Izumi: i say leave it on 500
[2010/06/13 15:03] Kadams Oriley: You can still get it somewhere
[2010/06/13 15:03] Nebadon Izumi: dont touch the bandwidth slider here
[2010/06/13 15:03] Taek Fang: 500 here
[2010/06/13 15:03] Nebadon Izumi: unless your going below 500
[2010/06/13 15:03] Lani Global: we only need to be sure that we are able to render signs in a few viewers: SL 2.0+ and Emerald
[2010/06/13 15:04] Nebadon Izumi: well I do not suggest anyone use Emerald on this gridf
[2010/06/13 15:04] Arielle Popstar: works fine for me
[2010/06/13 15:04] Taek Fang: i've been telling people to use imprudence
[2010/06/13 15:04] Nebadon Izumi: ive had to fix to many problems form Emerald
[2010/06/13 15:04] Tracey Humphreys: when I first came here it took 5 minutes for the boards to rez, I think simple one prim boards would be better
[2010/06/13 15:04] Zardoz Firanelli: Emerald works for me...
[2010/06/13 15:04] Nebadon Izumi: everytime i fix someones inventory
[2010/06/13 15:04] Malada Inkwell: My slider is on 1500... maybe that's my proplem
[2010/06/13 15:04] Nebadon Izumi: guess what viewer they are using
[2010/06/13 15:04] Nebadon Izumi: 99% of the time its emerald
[2010/06/13 15:04] Warin Cascabel: At any rate, it's possible to place the sign text onto non-sculpted prims.
[2010/06/13 15:05] Nebadon Izumi: ya
[2010/06/13 15:05] Warin Cascabel: just put it on the inside of a hollow, cut cylinder to match the contour of the actual signboards.
[2010/06/13 15:05] Nebadon Izumi: it might be good because they do load alot faster than sculpts
[2010/06/13 15:05] Tracey Humphreys: that's a VERY god idea
[2010/06/13 15:05] Verbal Earthworm: mhm
[2010/06/13 15:05] Nebadon Izumi: we do have some ideas for preloading at Welcome Station
[2010/06/13 15:05] Deana Later: the line most used at lbsa is "click he board behind me" and it always works
[2010/06/13 15:05] Nebadon Izumi: we should maybe test that idea out Warin
[2010/06/13 15:06] Warin Cascabel: Yeah... I did some experiments on the preloading, seemed to work okay. Just have to build the structures for it.
[2010/06/13 15:06] Nebadon Izumi: nice
[2010/06/13 15:06] Nebadon Izumi: thats good news
[2010/06/13 15:06] Nebadon Izumi: i hadnt tested it at all yet
[2010/06/13 15:07] Nebadon Izumi: ok well we are already past the hour, anyone else have anything more they want to talk about?
[2010/06/13 15:07] Nebadon Izumi: perhaps non OSG3B related?
[2010/06/13 15:08] Nebadon Izumi: either or, id say nows the time
[2010/06/13 15:08] Data Flow: search
[2010/06/13 15:08] Deana Later: nope thanks for the meeting.... have fun everyone
[2010/06/13 15:08] Zardoz Firanelli: Yes, is there a way to integrate a single Freeswitch Server gridwide?
[2010/06/13 15:08] Warin Cascabel: I'd urge science fiction fans to check out Lani Global's Dune region; it's a lot of fun.
[2010/06/13 15:08] Nebadon Izumi: Zardoz, non technical questions for now please
[2010/06/13 15:08] Nebadon Izumi: but quick answer is i dont know
[2010/06/13 15:08] Zardoz Firanelli: I meant to get voice everywhere for the event.
[2010/06/13 15:08] Fu Barr: yeh - i second that!
[2010/06/13 15:09] Data Flow: why search dont work
[2010/06/13 15:09] Nebadon Izumi: Search has been broken for a while now, it needs updating
[2010/06/13 15:09] Taek Fang: Data Flow we are searching on how to get search to work
[2010/06/13 15:09] Nebadon Izumi: hopefully we can figure something out soon, not sure if it will be before the party
[2010/06/13 15:09] Nebadon Izumi: we are aware its broken though
[2010/06/13 15:09] Arielle Popstar: any update on the refactor eta?
[2010/06/13 15:09] Data Flow: good important thing
[2010/06/13 15:10] Nebadon Izumi: nothing right now, other than were working hard on the web interface
[2010/06/13 15:10] Nebadon Izumi: and testing the simulators, planing the migration
[2010/06/13 15:10] Arielle Popstar: nod
[2010/06/13 15:10] Taek Fang: good cause.. i think a general store would be nice tfor content creators as well as noobs looking for better than ruth clothing XD
[2010/06/13 15:10] Nebadon Izumi: ya, we all miss the general store, but i gotta say thats pretty low on the totem pole a the moment
[2010/06/13 15:10] Kadams Oriley: but ruth is hawght
[2010/06/13 15:10] Taek Fang: but i understand it's being worked on.
[2010/06/13 15:10] Nebadon Izumi: we wont be looking at that until after the migration
[2010/06/13 15:11] Nebadon Izumi: but its also on the list of things to do
[2010/06/13 15:11] Taek Fang: well if i could help i'd sure do so..
[2010/06/13 15:12] Lani Global: (1) Party/Celebraton Regions. (2) Noob Landing and Avatar Creation (3) Showcase of Great Builds
[2010/06/13 15:12] Taek Fang: i do work on website stuff so :)
[2010/06/13 15:12] Nebadon Izumi: cool Lani, if you have some time, start laying it out in the forums your ideas
[2010/06/13 15:12] Nebadon Izumi: what you would like to see
[2010/06/13 15:12] Nebadon Izumi: we'll also analyze the meeting logs
[2010/06/13 15:12] Tracey Humphreys: Hispanos grid has shops opening, everything is free. Maybe have a notecard with list of free places on a noticeboard at Lbsa?
[2010/06/13 15:12] Nebadon Izumi: maybe put some points on the forums from the meeting as well
[2010/06/13 15:13] Warin Cascabel: There is such a notecard, Tracey.
[2010/06/13 15:13] Warin Cascabel: If anyone has updates for it, please give them to me.
[2010/06/13 15:13] Malada Inkwell: Tracey - good idea, if poor dani can keep the servers up
[2010/06/13 15:13] Warin Cascabel: It's in the sign that says "NEW USERS - click here for a notecard with landmarks" or something like that.
[2010/06/13 15:14] Tracey Humphreys: Think it's teething troubles, Malada. Changing to new fast servers
[2010/06/13 15:14] Taek Fang: hehe that's what i did with my sim
[2010/06/13 15:14] Taek Fang: :D
[2010/06/13 15:14] Taek Fang: now i think i can run two
[2010/06/13 15:15] Malada Inkwell: Hmmm... we'll need t-shirts for this shindig
[2010/06/13 15:15] Kadams Oriley: Im going to visit my father now
[2010/06/13 15:15] Fu Barr: me off to wherever but I'm happy to submit my palace build to the showcase. if anybody is interested.
[2010/06/13 15:15] Tracey Humphreys: I can do t-shirts. Just tell me what you want (I did the one I'm wearing)
[2010/06/13 15:15] Lani Global: yes, Fu's build should be in the Great Build Showcase
[2010/06/13 15:15] Nebadon Izumi: well if you can box it up drop it in the big freebie building at wright plaza
[2010/06/13 15:15] Dave Coyle: great. i'll post the transcript from the meeting at http://osgrid.org/wiki/TownHallMeeting
[2010/06/13 15:16] Nebadon Izumi: make a nice texture for the box
[2010/06/13 15:16] Nebadon Izumi: awesome dave, thanks for coming everyone, feel free to hang out keep discussing ideas
[2010/06/13 15:16] Nebadon Izumi: i'll put some of my thoughts and notes on the forums in a bit
[2010/06/13 15:16] Fu Barr: lol - that palace build is over 7k prim - perhaps not in a box neb.
[2010/06/13 15:16] Nebadon Izumi: oh its a whole sim
[2010/06/13 15:16] Nebadon Izumi: i thought you mean it was a building or something
[2010/06/13 15:16] Taek Fang: XD
[2010/06/13 15:17] Fu Barr: :)
[2010/06/13 15:17] Akimoto Xue: is there any open spots for sims near starting area for a place with free basics for peoples AV's?
[2010/06/13 15:17] Lani Global: it's a building that is a whole region
[2010/06/13 15:17] Fu Barr: well 3/4 to be fair - but thanks for the vote lani :)
[2010/06/13 15:18] Lani Global: so... outreach to the Other Grid(s)
[2010/06/13 15:18] Lani Global: Advertising
[2010/06/13 15:18] Warin Cascabel: I'll be making up a "Showcase Teleporter", for the Welcome Station but which I'll also make freely available, that'll show images of regions and let people page through them and teleport to interesting ones.
