mat mahogany: Hi George
Hiro Protagonist: I think tonight I'm going to give a bit of a status update with respect to the org, and then it will mostly be Q&A
Amy Storm: see how trained we are
dan banner: sounds good
mat mahogany: dont tell dan, hell try to photograph it
Hiro Protagonist: As you may recall, if you were here for the last episode, we had a bit of jeopardy we were working on wrt the organization
Arielle Popstar: Waves @ Mystic
Hiro Protagonist: there were a lot of potential plans examined, and a call went out for someone knowledgeabl to step forward and help us out with that
Hiro Protagonist: and someone did
Mystic Moonlight: hey arielle ,, hey ya'll now if it would load i see nothing and noone lol
brian Payitforward: place is filling up do we have floor mats for more ppl? hehe
Pete Camino: recap please
Adelle Fitzgerald: hello all
Arielle Popstar: (you look fine to us right where you are Mystic)
Arielle Popstar: Hi Adelle
Mystic Moonlight: ok maybe i need one more relog and a cache clean sighs
hippie.balbozar @pei-hippie.zapto.org:8002: hey
Hiro Protagonist: Ok Pete, basically it goes like this: the original osgrid, inc was filed in the state of california, by a gentlement who almost immediately thereafter got into some severe RL straights with his job, and
the paperwork was never properly completed.
Key Gruin: Let's let Hiro continue please folks
Hiro Protagonist: as a result, the organization slipped into a suspended state.
Arielle Popstar: it takes a bit Mystic
Hiro Protagonist: Additionally, he opensed the paypal account that we use to collect donations and pay server bills, and opened the CC account that backs the PP account.
Hiro Protagonist: That CC is about to expire in march.
Arielle Popstar: hi Hippie, Cro, Ashton and Sappadilli
Sappadilli Dallagio: /me waves and smiles
Hiro Protagonist: when it does, we will have to do something about a backup source for PP, or they'll lock up the account
Hiro Protagonist: so thats the super condensed version
Lafe Baxton: PP = ?
SiFan Shan: I noticed the "osgrid.inc" vs org in your title Hiro .....
hippie.balbozar @pei-hippie.zapto.org:8002: hi everyboby
mat mahogany: paypal
Adelle Fitzgerald: paypal, Lafe
Lafe Baxton: TY
Pete Camino: ditto
Arielle Popstar: (Rebake Adelle)
Hiro Protagonist: we needed to create a new legal entity, whether osgrid org, or some sort of business, or what have you as an operating entity to recieve and administer donations.
Hiro Protagonist: which brings us back to Albert.
Richardus Raymaker: who's albert ?
Arielle Popstar: posted on the forums Rich
Hiro Protagonist: Albert is semiretired from working in and with various nonprofit organizaations in the state of Georgia and other places. Most notably, public radion stations.
Hiro Protagonist: *radio
Hiro Protagonist: Ok, if anyone needs to catch up, go ahead, I'll take a few mins pause here.
Richardus Raymaker: not got time reading forum arielle. thats normall later tonight
George Equus: Hi Snik
Crofoot Brautigan: go ahead..
Snik Snoodle: hi george
Arielle Popstar: 41 people...
Hiro Protagonist: essentially RiRa, he just first offer to help in forums.
hippie.balbozar @pei-hippie.zapto.org:8002: why i cant see anything
Arielle Popstar: it happens when you come in late Hippie
Snik Snoodle: hi *everyone*
brian Payitforward: hi Snik :)
Jalen Optera: hi *snik*
Snik Snoodle: bi brian
Arielle Popstar: Hi Snik and Shelenn
Snik Snoodle: hi jalen
Snik Snoodle: hi Arrie
mat mahogany: so the way forward is what hiro?
brian Payitforward: i'm good Hiro just muted a im griefer and your info is good to have and its always good to learn more :)
Kahn Khalim: it took about 3 min for things to start rezzing for me Hippie
Snik Snoodle: likewise Kahn
Snik Snoodle: /me turns off my AO
Hiro Protagonist: Ok, so to point a fine point on it, Albert has gone out and researched forming up the same sort of organization we had before, a non for profit corp, but in texas.
Hiro Protagonist: It's cheap, requires three officers to get started ($50 to file the paperwork) and we're pretty much good to go, once the papers are filed.
Richardus Raymaker: och. region full
Hiro Protagonist: that will put us in a position to open new accounts that dont have the old fella's name on them
Arielle Popstar: great
Crofoot Brautigan: texas, eh? I dunno (lol)
George Equus: Hi Truelie
Hiro Protagonist: He's also asured me that in doing businessas we presently are, we arent really stepping on any legal toes
Truelie Ellen: hi
Crofoot Brautigan: excellent
Hiro Protagonist: I live in texas, so that makes it easy for me to do here.
Shelenn Ayres: /me is native texan but displaced
Hiro Protagonist: if I lived in Wisconsin, I would be looking to do it there
Hiro Protagonist: so, here's where we sit.
mat mahogany: so, donations needed then Hiro?
Crofoot Brautigan: good start..
Hiro Protagonist: We now need two other people with sufficient time and energy and experience to come forward
Hiro Protagonist: one as the organizational secretary
Hiro Protagonist: and one as the organizational treasurer
Hiro Protagonist: these people will have very specific responsibilities on the books, but to get started we'll all be doing things much as we are now
Pete Camino: once all this is accomplished, then whaty?
Hiro Protagonist: but we have to have them on the paperwork and bylaws
Hiro Protagonist: then we wont be using a paypal account and credit card in someone else's name
Hiro Protagonist: we'll be able to get our own
mat mahogany: do they have to be USA?
Hiro Protagonist: I dont think so, no
Shelenn Ayres: i am happy to help but dont have the time
Shelenn Ayres: for a full commitment
mat mahogany: ive been a sec for a british dive club, of about 1k members?
Arielle Popstar: whispers: (ACCIDENTLY LOOKS UP ADELLE"S SKIRT
Arielle Popstar: whispers: oops caps
Adelle Fitzgerald: O.o
Snik Snoodle: what qualities are you looking for in said encumbants Hiro?
mat mahogany: the SAA sub aqau association, if thats any help
stiofain nbmcmedia: there are lots of ppl stuk at landing point shud maybe be moved in here
Hiro Protagonist: they probably cant move, but I think they can hear
mat mahogany: i dont know if anyones got better quals than that tho,
Crofoot Brautigan: whispering caps...
stiofain nbmcmedia: are too far to hear
Richardus Raymaker: the need TP up
Crofoot Brautigan: stio...it's just too f###ing crowded
Hiro Protagonist: if nothing else, they can at least catch up in the transcript we publish agfter the fact
albertlr Landar: Well I have to Hiro that if needed I would be glad to help out with the filing of all paper work for the organization.
Richardus Raymaker: the ned tp up
Richardus Raymaker: afraid we get group IM chat lag
stiofain nbmcmedia: yea
Crofoot Brautigan: I can hear @ 173 feet
Crofoot Brautigan: thanks to Mystic...
Mystic Moonlight: yw cro
Richardus Raymaker: so the officers would be , i guess 1. hiro 2. unknown 3. unknown right ?
mat mahogany: Hiro, i am sure there will be a lot of good ppl who will be able to do this. I offer as a matter of support,
Shelenn Ayres: how many hours per month will the sec or treasurer need to commit to?
Hiro Protagonist: correct RiRa
mat mahogany: what about time differences?
albertlr Landar: Texas law requires that there be A president and Secretary, the other post can be a Treasure or Vice President
Jalen Optera: I am guessing your real name and address must be filed on the paperwork?
Hiro Protagonist: Hi Albert :)
mat mahogany: same in UK albertlr
Hiro Protagonist: Here's Albert now peeps
Arielle Popstar: << cant manage her own finances so keep her away from Osgrid's :P
Amy Storm: lol
albertlr Landar: Or the third post can be Vice President/Treasurer
mat mahogany: is the formatiopn of a company
mat mahogany: a diretorship
Crofoot Brautigan: hi, Albert,,,ty for your service to your country
albertlr Landar: Hi Hiro
albertlr Landar: Well have a sort of obligation.
Key Gruin: ya it has to be trustworthy and accountable people
Truelie Ellen: I am not seeing other side of room chat... is there a way to do that?
Crofoot Brautigan: I mean conpany
albertlr Landar: I have been working for and in non-Profits for over 25 years.
albertlr Landar: I am handling the books rignt now for a non-profit in my semi retirement
albertlr Landar: But as I told Hiro, it appears that Texas law does not put as much burden on board members as other states as far as liability to the organization debts.
Hiro Protagonist: (thats a good thing :)
Hiro Protagonist: (tm)
albertlr Landar: You still have to act responsible...
Crofoot Brautigan: /
Pete Camino: no polititians then
albertlr Landar: But by default the board is not responsible for the debts of the organization.
albertlr Landar: yea
Kahn Khalim: thats good, but who does the burden apply to?
mat mahogany: in the UK Albertlr, when this is done, its a company directorship. Even a non profit organsiation will have to keep books and show secretary reports? Is this the same in the USA?
albertlr Landar: The main thing the state requries is at least one person in the state to be the representative.
albertlr Landar: The organization itself.
Key Gruin: Hiro, you mentioned Wisconsin as being an alternatively desireable state, why is that?
Hiro Protagonist: yes mat, though the details will vary
albertlr Landar: Meaning creditors could seize the physical assets
Kahn Khalim: so it works like a C corp?
albertlr Landar: yes
Hiro Protagonist: Key, actually I mentioned Wisconsin conditionally: it would be ideal, if I lived there
albertlr Landar: Actaully a lot of corporation register in Deleware.
Crofoot Brautigan: yes...
albertlr Landar: They have very liberal regulations there.
Hiro Protagonist: as it is now, all of our creditors are paid in advance, without contracts, for a month at the stretch
Hiro Protagonist: so long as we have donations coming in, there will never be anything in jeopardy
Shelenn Ayres: albert that is because deleware has the least amount of regulation and oversight of financials
Kahn Khalim: thats good then, as long as any creditors do not require personal garrantees
Amy Storm: Is there much of a reserve?
albertlr Landar: And that is why I say this organizaton should not really scare anyone away.
mat mahogany: so the replacement of CC will be in the name of OSG inc? and the PP account also in the name of OSG inc?
albertlr Landar: Very few physical assets... no employees at the moment
Hiro Protagonist: there is a substantial reserve vs monthly debt
Hiro Protagonist: perhaps two or three months
Shelenn Ayres: non profits have to file papers periodically and have financial oversight... an LLC would be better imho... i own an LLC
Arielle Popstar: whats the current monthly expense?
Crofoot Brautigan: servers?
Pete Camino: LLS is taxable
albertlr Landar: non profits have to file yearly just like any other organization.
Amy Storm: That's really good, it would better if it were more, obviously
Shelenn Ayres: LLC is pass thru taxation
Shelenn Ayres: if no profits are made... there is none to pass through
Inanna Beaumont: i hope here sits nobody now under me
Inanna Beaumont: ;-)
Nebadon Izumi: sorry back got really distracted
albertlr Landar: You cant get federal grants nor state grants that a non profit could attract.
Eliopod Beaumont:
George Equus: sorry, crashed out of the blue...
Eliopod Beaumont:
Eliopod Beaumont: many of us did
Arielle Popstar: we all did i think
Richardus Raymaker: this TP dont work
Katan Lorefield: Me too.
Shelenn Ayres: good to see so much interest though!
Richardus Raymaker: funn y to see lots of floating hair :O
Sappadilli Dallagio: I take it the place imploded.
Sappadilli Dallagio: I just see puffy white cotton balls. :)
Eliopod Beaumont: i see a bunch of clouds
George Equus: looks like it
Katan Lorefield: It would appear.
Arielle Popstar: we need Intentels DSG for the next meeting :)
Richardus Raymaker: or just a palce to meet on the floor
Snik Snoodle: did the sim crash?
Sappadilli Dallagio: I think I will catch the rest in the transcript. Need to return to RL soon anyway. Have fun everyone. :)
Snik Snoodle: did the sim crash?
Shelenn Ayres: everyone got kicked i think
Shelenn Ayres: i think so snik
Arielle Popstar: tc Sappad
Second Life: Region found!
Second Life: Region found!
Second Life: Teleport completed from hop://login.osgrid.org/simsquare%20metaverse%20orion/154/153/26
Arielle Popstar: was a game as to who could predict the closest when we would go again
Mika Mesmeriser: admires the starlit sky sparkling on the ocean;)
Shelenn Ayres: seems like the crash occured at 50 users since i counted 49 disconnects on first crash
Arielle Popstar: oh right Jalen....the meters
Jalen Optera: yeah, not that they always worked, sometimes no warning, but gave us something to look at ;)
Arielle Popstar: oh here comes my hair
Arielle Popstar: lost in baggage check
Kahn Khalim: lol@arielle
Richardus Raymaker: funn ybnow walk lag. but nothing almost rezzed. ok waiting.. blieb... blieb...
Amy Storm: Thank you for the tp arielle
Arielle Popstar: yw Amy
Kahn Khalim: arielle, Mika and Lisa.. clouds
Richardus Raymaker: wich clouds.. ? lol
Arielle Popstar: /me rebakes multiple times
Oddball Otoole: this sim hates me...even if i'm here alone, it crashes me..
Kahn Khalim: lol
Mika Mesmeriser: least we are here ;)
Jalen Optera: lets just leave it as clouds, the point is the conversation anyway
Arielle Popstar: it is the best plaza for me
Arielle Popstar: oh i like Bade
Kahn Khalim: arielle pops in, I can see you!
Richardus Raymaker: iee there it is
Oddball Otoole: bade = the only region on osg where I crash
Hiro Protagonist: yeah, it has to be weird, its the plaza that Hiro built
Kahn Khalim: lol
Boba Solo: nice job Hiro
Jalen Optera: it was stable the last meeting
Hiro Protagonist: thanks Boba
Hiro Protagonist: it's ancient
Arielle Popstar: well we had a lot of people
Hiro Protagonist: almost as old as the grid
Arielle Popstar: and group chat going
Boba Solo: its way good
Boba Solo: allways liked it
Eliopod Beaumont: indeed
Arielle Popstar: suprised it lasted as long as it did
Amy Storm: it's comfortable
Hiro Protagonist: I had a gal helping me with the interior
Oddball Otoole: the place looks awesome
Hiro Protagonist: she was something else
Mercalia Beck: would it ne rude to ask how much money in donations we get each year approx?
Hiro Protagonist: and Adam Frisby redid the bar here a few years back
Mercalia Beck: be
Hiro Protagonist: it wouldnt be rude, no, but it's not a figure I can even guestimate off the top of my head
Hiro Protagonist: that would be a better question for neb
Mercalia Beck: maybe should be posted
Mercalia Beck: some one who cant get here asking me
Hiro Protagonist: Actually, I'd love to see our 'books' be on a website
Arielle Popstar: so whats the monthly expenses right now
Arielle Popstar: roughly
Shelenn Ayres: post a marathon thermometer so folks will know when money is needed?
Mercalia Beck: wants to know the size of the business
Oddball Otoole: a countdown thingy on the website/splash page maybe
Hiro Protagonist: well, you can kind of calculate it
Hiro Protagonist: we have 4 servers I believe
Hiro Protagonist: avg cost is somewhere around 175/mo
Hiro Protagonist: each
Shelenn Ayres: hiro, if you could tell us how many hours per month are needed form the dedicated officers it would help folks decide what they can offer
Arielle Popstar: 700
Richardus Raymaker: whats the datalimit/month with that price ?
Hiro Protagonist: and we are typically carry around 2500-3000 dollars forward each month in paypal
Hiro Protagonist: its a couple terrabytes, and I dont think we have ever broke 5% on it
Amy Storm: that's really good
Richardus Raymaker: i guess its 1u rack or 2u ?
Richardus Raymaker: yhmm server
Hiro Protagonist: Actually, we have a very fine data services company in dallas we do business with
Hiro Protagonist: they handle all the hardware, maintenance, all of it
Master Dubrovna: Who is that Hiro?
Oddball Otoole: The Ewings?
Hiro Protagonist: we run the operating suystems and opensims and pay the bill every month
Richardus Raymaker: aah. ok. that explains price a bit better to
Hiro Protagonist: LImestone Networks
Richardus Raymaker: can ypou image how you get nailed in S..
Master Dubrovna: oh yea. I have heard of them
Master Dubrovna: Good deal!
Hiro Protagonist: I have a company, SimHost.com, and we get all our servers there. So, I have a rather significant discount there, due to my volume.
Hiro Protagonist: I'm able to turn that discount back to the grid.
Shelenn Ayres: so roughly server costs are 8400 a year... any other costs?
Hiro Protagonist: So, essentially, I'm hosting the majority of this.
Arielle Popstar: hardware upgrades?
Hiro Protagonist: you guys are paying for it with your donations, at my cost.
Amy Storm: we don't the hardware
Hiro Protagonist: we just did mondo hardware upgrades, and more are likely in the not distant future
Amy Storm: the company we contract with does
Amy Storm: well, I was wrong, shuts up
Hiro Protagonist: LOL
Amy Storm: :)
Arielle Popstar: i sort of thought that too Amy but remembered Osgrid had hardware before
Hiro Protagonist: right now, we dont spend a single cent on _anything_ but servers
Hiro Protagonist: well, we've had hardware donated to us, but never as an 'ownership' or 'transfer of chattle' arrangemnet
Hiro Protagonist: just paid time on a hosted box
Master Dubrovna: Limestone supplies the servers or are we colo?
Hiro Protagonist: LSN supplies all hardware
Hiro Protagonist: it's a minimum service-level dedicated server package
Shelenn Ayres: ok are the three positions compensated for their time or is it expected to be volunteer? how many hours needed to commit per month for those open slots?
albertlr Landar: Board members can not be paid
albertlr Landar: in a non profit.
Hiro Protagonist: In the state of texas, the board of directors can take no salary or other fiduciary compensation; they are, however, expected to be compensated with the services provided by the organization they
operate.
albertlr Landar: If they donate services those can be compensated
Richardus Raymaker: wich members get payed then?
Hiro Protagonist: Excellent, albertlr is back :D
albertlr Landar: none
albertlr Landar: only employees
Richardus Raymaker: ok. then my thinking is right
Shelenn Ayres: non profits pay people all the time... this not the same as serving on the board... work that is normally billable is considered non board work
albertlr Landar: exactly
albertlr Landar: A board members responsiblity is to make policy and and raise money
Shelenn Ayres: non profits are also allowed to make a profit within a certain percentage above costs... unless they file as charitable... so my question is about that status
albertlr Landar: you and make more than you go out
albertlr Landar: it just has to all go towards the operation of the organization
Shelenn Ayres: but what is the filing status? 501c3 or 501c3 charitable?
albertlr Landar: Board members can not profit or be paid for their duties in a non profit, thats part of Texas law
Kahn Khalim: its not profit per say, its capital
Hiro Protagonist: it hasnt been filed yet
albertlr Landar: most likelyu 501 C 3
Shelenn Ayres: i am texan and very familiar with texas law as well as federal law
albertlr Landar: educational
Hiro Protagonist: bingo Khan
Shelenn Ayres: there is a difference in status
Hiro Protagonist: Shelenn, how many non-profits have you worked for?
Hiro Protagonist: How many boards have you sat on?
Shelenn Ayres: ive been involved with about 3 over the years... but i primarily work in for profit companies focused on serving education and government needs... i was asking questions and offering to help... no worries
i can step back
Hiro Protagonist: Thank you
Hiro Protagonist: Ok now, where were we?
albertlr Landar: Needing Board members?
Jalen Optera: ...wishing I logged local chat
Hiro Protagonist: the difference in status between the charitable and non charitable organizations
Hiro Protagonist: and needing board members, yes
Hiro Protagonist: we kinda got wrapped around the axels of the requirements for board members
albertlr Landar: Well first if it was set up as a for profit, who would the profits go to.
Arielle Popstar: the irs? :)
Hiro Protagonist: My problem with that question is, I dont know whether its an accounting question.
albertlr Landar: I just don't see how this set up now could go in that direction
Hiro Protagonist: I do believe it would be complicated as a for profit
Jalen Optera: we only have until March, so expediency is a huge issue
albertlr Landar: Well it gets a lot more complicated with a for profit organization.
Hiro Protagonist: once we know what we're doing, execution is not a problem
albertlr Landar: agreeded
Hiro Protagonist: also, carrying that sort of balance, if we come up on march and the finacial instruments are about to expire, we'll pay the server bills for months ahead and roll forward
Arielle Popstar: sort of depends too if Osgrid is planning for exapnsion or remaining the same population wise
Kahn Khalim: I don't think a "for profit" would sit well.. I think we should stick to the NPO.. imho
Hiro Protagonist: well, the real expansion thats been happening in our asset store
albertlr Landar: I would assume that it will grow in size, as it has so far.
Jeeper Shim: I agree Kahn
Hiro Protagonist: not that we arent growing in users too mind you
Master Dubrovna: Non profit would be the best I would think
Hiro Protagonist: but assets seem to grow as a factor of user growth, not parallel to it
Arielle Popstar: total but not concurrency at this point
Amy Storm: I believe that if OSgrid became a for profit company, it would change the dynamic and possibly the member base.
albertlr Landar: and that is what I recommend from my years of working both for them and on boards myself.
Hiro Protagonist: ok, we're going all geeky on albert again lol
Hiro Protagonist: we'replanning for growth, lets leave it there
Arielle Popstar: Hi Grey
Greybeard Thinker: hi Ari
Greybeard Thinker: hi all
Jeeper Shim: hi Grey
Hiro Protagonist: I would point out that when I chose the LLC as a 'plan of last resort', I did so before having had the benefit of Albert's company and counsel
Mercalia Beck: hi Greybeard
Hiro Protagonist: and that since talking to him, I dont see a particular need to consider that aviable plan at all
Oddball Otoole: What is the long term planning? LL seem to move to Ipad apps, SL is kinda losing sims every day, etc, etc...what are the plans after march? Any big new features?
Arielle Popstar: yes ty for contributing your experience Albertr
Hiro Protagonist: mainly Odd, right now the focus is to get the Real World (tm) component of OSgrid on sound legal and finacial footing
albertlr Landar: well its one of the things I have in experience, so glad to help any way I can
Hiro Protagonist: we also have a few technical problems to address that can be fixed with money
Arielle Popstar: as well as you others who have a clue what all this involves :)
Master Dubrovna: The RL issues with OSG, Inc. have to be fixed first
Hiro Protagonist: yes precisely
Hiro Protagonist: priorities
Master Dubrovna: exactly
Hiro Protagonist: then we can get back to being metaverse wizards
albertlr Landar: and the more concrete plans be made for the future
Oddball Otoole: ok:)
Arielle Popstar: Hi Rip
Rip Oxbar: I found it
Rip Oxbar: Hi Arielle
Hiro Protagonist: Anyone else have any questions on this topic?
brian Payitforward: nobody's rezing for me or the building
albertlr Landar: But the main thing everyone can do is if not already contributing a monthly amount to OSGIRD, please do so when you can.
Rip Oxbar: Hiro what topic I just got here :)
Hiro Protagonist: LOL
Kahn Khalim: even NPO need to have a business plan, with outlooks to the future. is that a requirement for creating the company?
Hiro Protagonist: the nonprofit status of osgrid
Hiro Protagonist: thats about as succinct as I can make it Rip
albertlr Landar: And from my experience I do not for see any problems in getting that accomplished.
Rip Oxbar: thatll do bud thanks
Hiro Protagonist: just jump in and follow along, it's like a line dance ;)
Kahn Khalim: lol
albertlr Landar: Setting up a Board of Directors is the primary goal at the moment.
Rip Oxbar: or a conga line :)
Arielle Popstar: ok so it is decided on what to set up?
dan banner: sounds like it
Hiro Protagonist: The obvious thing is the non charitable non profit I think
dan banner: yes
Arielle Popstar: nods
Hiro Protagonist: I may have gotten confused, I'm not sure I ever got the fine differences right
Kahn Khalim: any accountants in here? any business law people with experience in writing by-laws?
albertlr Landar: I've already mentioned that I will be glad to handle all the paper work involved, but would be glad to serve as the Organanizing Secretay also if needed.
albertlr Landar: Yea me
Hiro Protagonist: Albert, you're a prince lol
dan banner: ty albert
Hiro Protagonist: I was kinda scared to ask
Arielle Popstar: well if down the road it is not suitable for osgrid's needs, can it be hanged wiithout too much hassle?
albertlr Landar: When you work for non profits sometiems you have to do everything.
Amy Storm: ty, alber
Arielle Popstar: changed
Hiro Protagonist: I might have to make an Albert Plaza :)
Arielle Popstar: :)
albertlr Landar: I had to learn programming so I could set up books for our organizations.
Master Dubrovna: Just takes money Arielle :)
Hiro Protagonist: /me digs that
Kahn Khalim: Great! I'm glad Albert wants that position
Arielle Popstar: money makes the virtual world turn too
Hiro Protagonist: me too
albertlr Landar: well not necessary wants to feels obligated to volunteer
Hiro Protagonist: it's kind of a duty all of us rise to as we're able
Shelenn Ayres: will receipts for donations be issued to donors ofr tax purposes?
Rip Oxbar: So Hiro have we lost some donators ?
Hiro Protagonist: without all those 5$ subscriptions out there (man there are lots too) we'd be nowhere
albertlr Landar: it can be in the future
albertlr Landar: but only one the IRS grants the exemption status
Hiro Protagonist: we have been losing donators pretty steadily since I took over actually
Hiro Protagonist: but for every one that we lost, we got two new ones
Rip Oxbar: humm
Hiro Protagonist: I expect that will settle down fairly rapidly
Rip Oxbar: Is Osg tax exempt?
Hiro Protagonist: not at present
albertlr Landar: I should mention if some don't know but I was General Manager of Georgia Public Radio for 5 years.
Hiro Protagonist: not as an org
Shelenn Ayres: will operations be transparent so that donors can feel comfortable in donating?
Rip Oxbar: Then thats what you need to try next
albertlr Landar: So am use to pleading for funds
albertlr Landar: yes a non profit must be transparent.
Eliopod Beaumont:
albertlr Landar: Public inspection files must be maintained
Hiro Protagonist: Shelenn, they are as transparent as we can make them now, and we're going to try and improve on that considerably. That being said, it would seem that most are pretty comfortable, or we'd not be here
having this meeting
Rip Oxbar: I can buy a really empressive tittle in a online church if that would help :)
Master Dubrovna: Isn't public posting on the web allowed for public inspection files?
Hiro Protagonist: LOL Rip, can you also get a snake handler's certificate thrown in? :D
albertlr Landar: it can be.
Master Dubrovna: Or does it require a fixed plysical location?
Shelenn Ayres: /me stops asking questions
Rip Oxbar: Why not it works for political types :)
albertlr Landar: In Texas you also have to have at least one physical location.
albertlr Landar: With a real address.
Rip Oxbar: In Texas I have a computer
dan banner: thats easy
Hiro Protagonist: I'll say this much: we've always tried to be as open as posiible. We try to be good shepards of your money, because it is still yours
Jalen Optera: lets all live with Hiro!
albertlr Landar: Board members are not required to release their actual addess, but can use post office box
Lucy Afarensis: whispers: How about the board members
Key Gruin: rackspace :P
Hiro Protagonist: we also try and keep what we do with it functioning well, and keep policies in practice that protect us all as much as possible from any sort of legal harm.
Hiro Protagonist: If we seem a little tightlipped about what we're up to at times, it probably has mor to do with there not being an entirely convenient way of keeping you posted than any matter involving keeping sekrets
:)
Lucy Afarensis: Do the board members need to live Texas?
Arielle Popstar: or certain things being in limbo status at times
Hiro Protagonist: One does.
albertlr Landar: Just one
Hiro Protagonist: That would be me.
albertlr Landar: I live in Georgia myself
Hiro Protagonist: Yes Arielle, thank you. Sometimes, pardon the expression, we just dont know what the fuck is going on either :)
Master Dubrovna: lol
Hiro Protagonist: hence my initial plan of last resort.
albertlr Landar: And actually all board members could be in other states, as long as an agent lived in Texas.
Hiro Protagonist: Since talking with Albert, I've come to feel it was no plan at all.
Hiro Protagonist: yes for instance we might pay a lawyer to be our legal representative if no one lived in texas
Hiro Protagonist: (correct me as needed Albert)
albertlr Landar: they could also be a volunteer to mainting the inspection records.
Master Dubrovna: OSG, Inc. is incorporated in California right now, correct?
Hiro Protagonist: well, sort of
Hiro Protagonist: its in suspended status, and we have no agent there
Boba Solo: a legal eagal on retainer might be prudent
Master Dubrovna: ohhh
albertlr Landar: and they could also be a volunteer
Hiro Protagonist: it would be prudent, but prohibitively expensive
Boba Solo: yes
Hiro Protagonist: we had volunteer counsel at one time; it did not go well.
Arielle Popstar: wasnt Diva involved in some way?
Shelenn Ayres: there are volunteer legal organizations
albertlr Landar: these days you can buy legal advice on the Internet.
Hiro Protagonist: Their legal advice was to 'run screaming from this beast'
Master Dubrovna: so you are thinking of disolving OSG, Inc. and start new?
Boba Solo: nice
Hiro Protagonist: It's effectively disolved already
Master Dubrovna: but does it not "own" assets?
Kahn Khalim: what about the name? can we keep it?
Hiro Protagonist: by mutual agreement of the previous board if for no other reason
Hiro Protagonist: yes
Hiro Protagonist: name will reamin intact
Kahn Khalim: whew!
Kahn Khalim: lol
Master Dubrovna: good
Richardus Raymaker: uhmm osgrid inc. expirs and you get anew osgrid .inc. ?
Hiro Protagonist: it didnt expire
Richardus Raymaker: aha. to slow with typeing
Hiro Protagonist: it was never really finished
Master Dubrovna: technically it never existed?
Kahn Khalim: is anything transfering? or is everything going to be new.. things such as domain names, etc
Richardus Raymaker: lol. the domain anmes exist
albertlr Landar: depending on the state you have to file papers and fees to renew an organization, either yearly or every two years.
Hiro Protagonist: technically it never existed, yes
albertlr Landar: or longer.
albertlr Landar: so if not file, an organization will go out of existance legally.
Hiro Protagonist: it's been in a state of suspension since 2009
Master Dubrovna: that might actually help setting up the new OSGRID.inc.
Hiro Protagonist: not a single filing has been completed since
Kahn Khalim: ok, so were literally creating the organization now, assuming non ever existed.
Hiro Protagonist: Ok, anyone got anything else?
Shelenn Ayres: if i understand it correctly... you need two people willing to put their real names and an undetermined amount of time into serving on the board... is that correct?
dan banner: i think its down to 1 now
Hiro Protagonist: not just any two warm bodies
albertlr Landar: nope three in texas
Hiro Protagonist: they have to meet muster with the vested parties
Arielle Popstar: so what are prerequisites?
albertlr Landar: none
Shelenn Ayres: so i assume you will appoint who you want hiro... based on qualifications etc
Hiro Protagonist: they'd need some sort of prior experience
Hiro Protagonist: Lets take Albert here for example
albertlr Landar: just to take responsibility and follow the law
Hiro Protagonist: would anyone in this room question why I'm listening to him?
Arielle Popstar: what about degreee of invovlement with Osgrid etc
albertlr Landar: would hope they have some interest.
Kahn Khalim: not at all, alerts qualifications speak for themselves :)
Hiro Protagonist: do you mean as far as running the grid itself?
Hiro Protagonist: there ya go Khan
Arielle Popstar: as far as potential board members
Hiro Protagonist: I'd want to clone him if I could lol
albertlr Landar: I am trying to get our local Communities In Schools to help bring opensim to our school system here.
Hiro Protagonist: As a board member, I dont think there is much involvement with actual service operations, beyond setting policy
Hiro Protagonist: albert, I might be able to help you with that, lets talk about that after a bit ;)
albertlr Landar: Its best to have a separation between the day to day operation of OSGRID and board members in my experience.
Kahn Khalim: yes!
Arielle Popstar: yes but i would feel a degree of inworld invovlement should be a prerequisite for accountabilities sake
albertlr Landar: of course.
Hiro Protagonist: it would be ideal to retreat to the ivory tower lol
Kahn Khalim: and hiro, as president, you are inworld alot :)
Hiro Protagonist: but unfortunately, there's a lot of work and few who know how to carry it off
Mercalia Beck: what about Nebadon in all of this?
Arielle Popstar: nod, i know i have no clue
Hiro Protagonist: Nebadon is working as a grid developer and providing incredible amounts of quality systems administration work
Richardus Raymaker: omg hiro, dont go back to SL :P
Mercalia Beck: ok
Hiro Protagonist: he will continue to do so for as long as he likes, as far as I am concerned
Jalen Optera: Seems like Neb is so thrilled to have the business side off his back, he is like a kid again lately
Hiro Protagonist: yes, its really cool isnt it :)
Key Gruin: yes indeed
Jalen Optera: yep
Arielle Popstar: yes was noticing that too
Jalen Optera: I had to kick him from my region because he wouldnt stop playing with the coaster, but still...
Hiro Protagonist: LOL
Jeeper Shim: lol
Hiro Protagonist: he can get away with that as a regular sort of user
Hiro Protagonist: just let me know if he gets to be a problem *winks*
Hiro Protagonist: Albert, Nebadon is the other guy here who has as much sweat equity as I
Jalen Optera: I dealt with him, sent him to lbsa, my proudest moment in osg [20:53] Nebadon Izumi: thats first time i ever got teleported by someone
Hiro Protagonist: he is currently flipping out in IRC becuase the region crashed while we were having this meeting
Arielle Popstar: so which other board member does the non profit need?
Arielle Popstar: treasurer?
Hiro Protagonist: once I get out, we'll be replacing both the server and the host it runs on
Amy Storm: You were the one sent him to LBSA
Arielle Popstar: or Albertr is doing that
albertlr Landar: most likely
Hiro Protagonist: right now Arielle, I'm doing everything but systems work
albertlr Landar: the problem with Texas... is you can not have a Secretary and Treasuer in the same person.
Arielle Popstar: so we need a secretary?
albertlr Landar: I have done that in one of the non profits I served on, but can't do that in Texas
Master Dubrovna: How often is the board required to hold a meeting?
albertlr Landar: I will be glad to serve in either position, because I would end up doint the same thing.
Kahn Khalim: well, my background is in network engineering, but I have the time. if you would like to put my name on the potential board list, I would like to be part of the organization, and be glad to volunteer,
assuming I meet the qualifications...
albertlr Landar: Most times the duties of the Secretary are to record the minutes of the meetings.
Hiro Protagonist: lol, smells like optimism ;)
albertlr Landar: and there can be regular board members also.
albertlr Landar: not just the officers.
Hiro Protagonist: nods
Hiro Protagonist: Albert, what are the roles of non-officer board members?
albertlr Landar: But that is one of the things for the first board determine
albertlr Landar: How many will posts will be on the board.
Key Gruin: to vote on decisions
Hiro Protagonist: undetermined
Arielle Popstar: do you need a qouorom for voting?
Arielle Popstar: quorom
albertlr Landar: so sort of open in at this pint
Hiro Protagonist: what I'm wondering is this: would it be possible to have a few board positions that were elected by the community?
albertlr Landar: Its quaroum of those present I believe
albertlr Landar: And at least 10%
albertlr Landar: But some board set up an executive committee
albertlr Landar: Usually made up of the officers to handle emergencies
Arielle Popstar: nods
albertlr Landar: and that allows not having to have the whole board meet all the time.
Hiro Protagonist: excellent
albertlr Landar: And texas allows meeting to be held on the Internet as long as everyone agrees to that.
Hiro Protagonist: Oh, we would lol
Master Dubrovna: nice!
albertlr Landar: Or other electornic means.
Hiro Protagonist: y'all please excuse me a sec, gotta break for nature
albertlr Landar: thats important.
Arielle Popstar: yes it can preempt the most important of thngs
Arielle Popstar: have a seat Key
albertlr Landar: I recently got a very good cpu and 8 gigs of memory and a new Grachics card, this is the first lag I have had on OSGRID or SL since I got it.
Key Gruin: just want to make sure I don't sit on someone
Arielle Popstar: still rezzing the region?
albertlr Landar: But glad to see it was because of all those attending
albertlr Landar: no I can see everthing now.
brian Payitforward: hey Key i flew up so i wouldnt be in the way since nobody and nothing is rezing in hehe
albertlr Landar: But took a long time for it to focus when I first got here.
Second Life: Notecard saved
Arielle Popstar: gets like that when it is busy and especially after a crash
Arielle Popstar: i think the sea level is rising from Hiro's nature call ;)]
Master Dubrovna: lol
Key Gruin: no comment lol
Kahn Khalim: hehehe
Hiro Protagonist: lol too funny Arielle
Arielle Popstar: :)
brian Payitforward: thats a hell of a bladder capacity! hehe
Hiro Protagonist: long walk to the head on this boat
brian Payitforward: well wb :)
Hiro Protagonist: ty :D
Kahn Khalim: yes, where were we lol
Hiro Protagonist: Well, I think we've probably talked this through about as well as we can at this point
Hiro Protagonist: I'll wrap this topic by saying we still have some time
Hiro Protagonist: it's not like we have to fill shoes tomorrow
Hiro Protagonist: and with that, I wanna know if anyone has anything else they would like to talk about?
Kahn Khalim: I do appreciate your forwardness in keeping us all informed Hiro, its great to know how things are coming along.
Arielle Popstar: it is
Mercalia Beck: no other than thanyou Hiro for dealing with this
Lucy Afarensis: Yes Thank You
Caro Fayray: yes ty Hiro
Boba Solo: yes I agree,..its good for the change to understand
Hiro Protagonist: Not a problem. It's why I got these meetings back on a weekly schedule.
Arielle Popstar: liking the more transparent nature of the proceedings
Boba Solo: some folks have been scared
albertlr Landar: I also wish to thank him for stepping forward and taking keeping things going for all of us.
Boba Solo: miss lead
dan banner: yes
Boba Solo: or just not knowing whats happing
Master Dubrovna: Keeping the information flowing is excellent.
Hiro Protagonist: Mind you, I might not have much new to say at some of them, but at least I'll show up and tell you that :)
Key Gruin: I think more frequent meetings make things less stressful and chaotic
Kahn Khalim: yes, ty Hiro
Arielle Popstar: well it is good for now
Arielle Popstar: while going through the transition
Second Life: Notecard saved
Boba Solo: good to know theres folks that care so deeply
Arielle Popstar: not sure how good on an ongoing basiis
Hiro Protagonist: Ok, a couple of more mundane things I'd like to address
Boba Solo: it will never die with that
Second Life: Items successfully shared.
Shelenn Ayres: great job hiro and everyone participating is a good sign for the community
Hiro Protagonist: we've taken the greeters group in hand and are bringing it into line with a more structured way of doing things, and trying to brush ourselves up for the public
Hiro Protagonist: I'd like to recognize a few people in that regard
Hiro Protagonist: Arille has been kept on, and we have a new person with us who has a serious amount of RL customer service experience helping us out, Amy Storm
Hiro Protagonist: *Arielle
Hiro Protagonist: Sorry
Arielle Popstar: i misspell it too ;0
Hiro Protagonist: both of these gals do a super job, and stay at it
Kahn Khalim: <applaudes Arielle and Amy!!> Thank you two!
Hiro Protagonist: they both have displayed a level of energy I just couldnt kleep up with
Arielle Popstar: ty ty
Amy Storm: ty
Arielle Popstar: just doing what comes naturally
Boba Solo: Ive seen her in action good Job Amy and Arielle is great also
Boba Solo: we all know her
Hiro Protagonist: we hope to get more too, and if any of the old members would like to get involved with that again, we're interested in hearing from you
Arielle Popstar: yes Amy is doing a wonderfull job
Amy Storm: ty, Bob, you help a lot
Boba Solo: Amy is new to me but very good handler
Boba Solo: Id like to say thx to dan Banner also
Hiro Protagonist: on the other hand, if you dont want to be bothered with rules and policies and management and whatnot, I totally understand; the greeters group is a whole new ballgame.
Hiro Protagonist: YES
Boba Solo: he has done mountains as has Key
Hiro Protagonist: Key Gruin and Dan Banner
Hiro Protagonist: they are the light and dark side of duct tape
Arielle Popstar: yes Dan and Jalen certainly do a lot
Boba Solo: hehehe
Amy Storm: lol
Boba Solo: ]well put
Hiro Protagonist: look around you, you will see their hands in everything
Amy Storm: priceless
Hiro Protagonist: word.
dan banner: ty
Boba Solo: Grey and Eryn also with there contributions
Boba Solo: and love of the osgrid
Hiro Protagonist: And, soonish we'll say good bye to an old and dear, if a bit age tarnished friend
Mercalia Beck: what about avatar types. some maybe be worried that "kids" not wanted
Kahn Khalim: Always helping too!! great guys!
Mercalia Beck: or other non human
Hiro Protagonist: I'm curerntly working on some new build concepts for LBSA Plaza.
Boba Solo: nice
Jalen Optera: oh dear, I was afraid you were talking about bender
Kahn Khalim: LOL
Hiro Protagonist: The old one has served its purpose and will be retired to an OAR file
Hiro Protagonist: LOL Bender...
Jalen Optera: he will move right???
Boba Solo: I was thinking about an open air tropical type with limmos and dan banner in a head dress
Hiro Protagonist: but that isnt about to happen real soon
Kahn Khalim: bender is iconic :P
Boba Solo: with regular trips to shows an such
brian Payitforward: Bender is getting recycled? nooooooooooo! hehe
Hiro Protagonist: I'll be consulting and showing my build designs around and see what gets the most interest, so y'all look for that
Amy Storm: we need Bender, I was thinking of getting an animation and standing like him
Boba Solo: ok thx
Hiro Protagonist: current effort is on the region 'Tempest' at ground level.
Hiro Protagonist: it's an open plan building.
Boba Solo: nice
Hiro Protagonist: Ok thats all I got
Kahn Khalim: I got nothing in other questions, the grid seems to be operating fine :)
Master Dubrovna: Question- Is search working here now?
Hiro Protagonist: thats a brilliant question, but my answer sucks: I have no idea
Adelle Fitzgerald: legacy search works for me in firestorm
Jalen Optera: yes, it does in fs opensim and in angstrom latest
Arielle Popstar: bade seems to be hooked into metaverse inc
Boba Solo: YeeHaw!
Greybeard Thinker: search always did work, IF, you used the right viewer
Adelle Fitzgerald: i dont know about other viewers
dan banner: ya legacy search seems good
Arielle Popstar: i tried a group search earl;ier
Hiro Protagonist: I've just never really needed search for anything
Master Dubrovna: OK
Hiro Protagonist: but then I'm pretty boring, rarely go shopping, etffc
Hiro Protagonist: etc
Adelle Fitzgerald: talking about search and stuff, i forgot until now, but ive noticed that web profiles for some people dont seem to work, is there an issue with that that you know of?
Hiro Protagonist: yes we know of the issue but have no idea why
dan banner: ive noticed that too adelle
Adelle Fitzgerald: ok cool :)
Adelle Fitzgerald: as long as you knwo
Arielle Popstar: heh on Nirans it goes to peoples s/l profile
Mercalia Beck: what about my question about avatar types? some ppl may be insecure at Hiro loading here?
Kahn Khalim: the people search is hard with it being totally out of any sort order :P
Hiro Protagonist: Thats nebs project, he's trying to figger out why
Arielle Popstar: kind of cute
Mercalia Beck: leading
Hiro Protagonist: I personally suspect its peeps who have never modified their profile
dan banner: nirans doesnt have legacy search
Arielle Popstar: profile search
Adelle Fitzgerald: ok, i can test that for you Hiro, I have a couple of alts that the profiles dont work on
Adelle Fitzgerald: ill do some stuff with them, and see
Hiro Protagonist: Mercalia, what do yu mean? Mercalia Beck: what about my question about avatar types? some ppl may be insecure at Hiro loading here?
Mercalia Beck: kids and eg horses
Hiro Protagonist: what avatar types do you refer to?
Mercalia Beck: heard some runours u againt them
Mercalia Beck: rumours
Mercalia Beck: some ppl i talk to a bit worried
Mercalia Beck: who are such
Hiro Protagonist: That'sa touchy subject. I think you know my personal opinion of kids on this grid; it will be a decision the boad takes however, and you can bet I will make every effort in my role to influence that
decison.
Mercalia Beck: hmm
Hiro Protagonist: Hey, you want open, there it is.
Mercalia Beck: thats what some fear
Mercalia Beck: un due influence
Hiro Protagonist: ;fear' is a strong word.
Mercalia Beck: nope what i hear
Mercalia Beck: some i know keep away from lbsa fo that reason
Hiro Protagonist: firstly, 'undue' is not a subjective matter
Adelle Fitzgerald: wthout wanting to go too far into it, at least until the board is made up, i think that kind of descision would be better made for the residents as a whole for them to vote
Hiro Protagonist: the influence I have is earned
Mercalia Beck: informal v formal org
Hiro Protagonist: on the contrary
Hiro Protagonist: it's called 'sweat equity'
Mercalia Beck: and how they afect onbe another
Jalen Optera: oh dear, its the head of neb again
Nebadon Izumi: lol
Hiro Protagonist: lol
dan banner: i see all of him
Nebadon Izumi: i don't see anything yet
Jalen Optera: I see it in my nightmares...
Hiro Protagonist: I got all of him this time
Nebadon Izumi: still waiting on the loading
dan banner: take two steps forward
Jalen Optera: yes, do the hokey pokey
Hiro Protagonist: Yeah, Dan is kind of wearing your ass for a hat atm
dan banner: perfec
dan banner: t
brian Payitforward: its only just started rezing for me Neb but welcome :)
Nebadon Izumi: lol
dan banner: asshat

Adelle Fitzgerald: *molten
Kahn Khalim: lol
Nebadon Izumi: heh
Nebadon Izumi: Thanks Boba :)
Nebadon Izumi: I am not going to far, im still very much involved
brian Payitforward: i see your head Neb but think i saw the rest of you earlier and your av looked cool :)
Boba Solo: yes
Hiro Protagonist: wow you blipped out of the scene for a sec
Nebadon Izumi: ya
Nebadon Izumi: i detached my avatar
Nebadon Izumi: heh
Hiro Protagonist: ahh
Kahn Khalim: seen that tooo
Kahn Khalim: ahh
Kahn Khalim: lol
Nebadon Izumi: lol
Hiro Protagonist: incredible vanishing neb lol
Adelle Fitzgerald: your avatar is an attachment now?
Adelle Fitzgerald: lol
Richardus Raymaker: ?? lol
dan banner: mesh avatars are attachments
Kahn Khalim: aaaaarrrghh!! MY EYES!!!
Adelle Fitzgerald: oh, its not mesh colothes?
Adelle Fitzgerald: *clothes
Nebadon Izumi: the entire avatar is just 1 prim
Adelle Fitzgerald: nice
Nebadon Izumi: attached to my left hand
Nebadon Izumi: lol
mat mahogany: sorry to interupt
mat mahogany: i know i crashed out
Hiro Protagonist: actually you kinda came in at the end Matt
mat mahogany: how did the meeting end?
Hiro Protagonist: sorry we ciouldnt wait to let everyone relog
Jalen Optera: with nebs head shooting us with lasers
Nebadon Izumi: we won!
Nebadon Izumi: lol
Adelle Fitzgerald: haha
Hiro Protagonist: SCORE!
mat mahogany: hiro, i was at the begining
Nebadon Izumi: I dunno i missed the end too I think
Nebadon Izumi: lol
brian Payitforward: there's suposed to be a log on the site later mat :)
mat mahogany: and made it till about 20 mins
Hiro Protagonist: yeah it was really informational
Hiro Protagonist: no decisions have yet been taken
Nebadon Izumi: does everyone like the website changes?
Boba Solo: omg yes
dan banner: yes
Jalen Optera: LOVE the website changes
mat mahogany: oh, ok,
Adelle Fitzgerald: its changed?
Lucy Afarensis: YES
Caro Fayray: yes very cool:)
Hiro Protagonist: LMAO
Nebadon Izumi: a little
hippie.balbozar @pei-hippie.zapto.org:8002: yes neb
Hiro Protagonist: welcome to OSgrid Albert ;)
Kahn Khalim: rotating images
mat mahogany: well im glad thats sorted, :)
brian Payitforward: the splashscreen on viewer load is nice too
Jalen Optera: the whose online stuff is great
Adelle Fitzgerald: it looks the same except for the image
Nebadon Izumi: cool, we actually talked about it maybe 4 or 5 town meetings ago
Nebadon Izumi: i finally got around to doing it
Nebadon Izumi: also did you guys see the new Hypergrid page?
Nebadon Izumi: http://www.osgrid.org/index.php/hypergrid
Nebadon Izumi: its on the Grid menu
Nebadon Izumi: also on the front page at the bottom left corner
Nebadon Izumi: where the Lbsa Hypergrid address is
Nebadon Izumi: "Hypergrid Address" is a link
Boba Solo: perfect
Arielle Popstar: server not found for me
Nebadon Izumi: we can expand on this page a bit maybe explain a little what hypergrid is etc..
Nebadon Izumi: really Arielle?
Nebadon Izumi: thats odd
Jalen Optera: http://www.osgrid.org/index.php/hypergrid works fine for me
brian Payitforward: ty for letting us know Neb going to bookmark it
Jalen Optera: maybe canada blocked it Ari ;)
Arielle Popstar: even the main page
Jeeper Shim: I see it fine
hippie.balbozar @pei-hippie.zapto.org:8002: hshahaha
Jeeper Shim: so canada's not blocking stuff yet lol
Nebadon Izumi: http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/osgrid.org
Jeeper Shim: much anyways
Mika Mesmeriser: oh nice
Jalen Optera: maybe the US just blocked Ari
Jalen Optera: (bout time)
Jeeper Shim: I have to run. See ya later
Arielle Popstar: heh
Arielle Popstar: its loading really slow
Lucy Afarensis: bye all
Hiro Protagonist: ty Lucy
Arielle Popstar: loading data from osgrid.org.....
Arielle Popstar: worked fine earlier
Nebadon Izumi: hmm ya not sure
Arielle Popstar: yay it loaded ;)
brian Payitforward: is the server being throttled down because you're using a server like some internets do to customers who use torrents?
Adelle Fitzgerald: the images are a little slow to load for me.. not massively.. maybe they could be resized and made jpeg?
Greybeard Thinker: RL calls ciao all
Master Dubrovna: Great meeting. I have to go. Waves to all
brian Payitforward: bye Greybeard :)
Kahn Khalim: bye Grey
Arielle Popstar: like a proxy? not at the momnet
Jeff Hall: i'm beside you ..i.ll move a bit
hippie.balbozar @pei-hippie.zapto.org:8002: later grey
Adelle Fitzgerald: one that just loaded is 1.63mb
Nebadon Izumi: which images?
brian Payitforward: thats big for a little pic
Adelle Fitzgerald: the ones on the website
Nebadon Izumi: oh heh
brian Payitforward: big file size*
Nebadon Izumi: ya I can probably tone em down a bit
Adelle Fitzgerald: even if just compressed to jpeg should cut them down by 2/3
Nebadon Izumi: ya the jpegs don't scale as nice
Nebadon Izumi: they look all blocky
brian Payitforward: so its probably why it took a while to download for you and its not a server thing :)
Richardus Raymaker: i preffer png
Richardus Raymaker: or bmp
Adelle Fitzgerald: dont use so much compression then :P
Arielle Popstar: we dont all have 25MB download speeds :)
Nebadon Izumi: heh
Kahn Khalim: lol@arielle
brian Payitforward: or even 3 mb hehe
Richardus Raymaker: is the log posted btw ?
Richardus Raymaker: only have 10mbit down
Arielle Popstar: aww por baby ;)
Richardus Raymaker: but the server comrpess images anyway sofar i know
Arielle Popstar: poor^
Kahn Khalim: me too richardus
Arielle Popstar: i sometimes get 1 MB on a clear day
brian Payitforward: heard south korea has multi gb download speeds for everyone and its dirt cheap
Shelenn Ayres: most internet connections nare 2/5 MB speeds
Shelenn Ayres: only those who pay for premium connections get better
Kahn Khalim: yeah, they charge me for my 10
Richardus Raymaker: thats coing to be confusing. because januari have more logs now :O
Key Gruin: If someone has the first part of the meeting before the crash, I need it
Key Gruin: the logs
Shelenn Ayres: oh sorry key i dont log chats ;(
Hiro Protagonist: Ok y'all, the dinner bell is ringin :)
Arielle Popstar: oh wow what a difference Adelle
Hiro Protagonist: /me waves
Jalen Optera: bye Hiro
dan banner: lost a little contrast

Nebadon Izumi: hmm
Kahn Khalim: /me has lasagna in the oven :)
dan banner: i wasnt thinking and didnt save the first part
Adelle Fitzgerald: alright, im gonna head out
dan banner: tc adelle
Adelle Fitzgerald: Neb, if you want me to compress a bunch of images, just let me know
Adelle Fitzgerald: doing them manually is always better than getting the server to do them on the fly
Key Gruin: I thought I had log save checked, I usually do but I wasn't using the viewer I normally do
Nebadon Izumi: ya i can do it
Shelenn Ayres: i find it very helpful to use save for web in adobe photoshop
Adelle Fitzgerald: ok no probs
Nebadon Izumi: its easy enough
Nebadon Izumi: i probably should use something a bit newer
Nebadon Izumi: than photoshop 7
Nebadon Izumi: lol
Shelenn Ayres: ps elements maybe?
Adelle Fitzgerald: hmm, that should be able to optimise compression
albertlr Landar: question what file format is used for compression on OSGRID.
albertlr Landar: or opensim
Nebadon Izumi: ya its like 12 years old photoshop 7
Nebadon Izumi: literally
Adelle Fitzgerald: though there are probably plenty of free things out there that will do it
Richardus Raymaker: can infreviw not convert batches ?
Richardus Raymaker: infraview
Adelle Fitzgerald: anyway, the offer is there if you want me to do a bunch of them
Adelle Fitzgerald: alright, im outa here
Adelle Fitzgerald: laters all!
Boba Solo: tc
brian Payitforward: some like the gimp program
Kahn Khalim: l8r Adelle
brian Payitforward: byte Adelle :)

Mika Mesmeriser: night all aves*
brian Payitforward: time to explore :) nice to meet you all!
Boba Solo: tc
Caro Fayray: night mika
Key Gruin: no one has chat logs for the first half?
Shelenn Ayres: ok now that the meeting is over, id just like to say that i appreciate the opportunity to visit with folks... and if i have offended anyone it wasnt intentional... i know you all dont know me and its
understandable with the loss of voice inflection and body language that some of my typing can be misconstrued
Richardus Raymaker: ok let me look key
Shelenn Ayres: tc everyone
Boba Solo: no worries
Boba Solo: plx speak your mind as allways
Key Gruin: I have never been offended by you Shelenn
Shelenn Ayres: thx yall
Jalen Optera: I am offended by bade, it won't let me leave
Caro Fayray: lol
