[2013/07/14 13:00] albertlr Landar: Now can everyone hear me up here?

[2013/07/14 13:00] dan banner: yes

[2013/07/14 13:00] Sun Tzu: entered the region (10.25 m).

[2013/07/14 13:00] Em Jannings: ok here

[2013/07/14 13:00] Key Gruin: yes

[2013/07/14 13:00] Walter Balazic: yep

[2013/07/14 13:00] Jaelyn Optera: yes

[2013/07/14 13:00] Tizzee Sixpence: yes

[2013/07/14 13:00] dan banner: you can move closer if you like since nobody is dancing

[2013/07/14 13:00] Shez Oyen: loud and clear

[2013/07/14 13:00] Jaelyn Optera: or you could dance for us

[2013/07/14 13:00] albertlr Landar: Yea Might be better

[2013/07/14 13:00] Sarah Kline: you are but a small dot on the stage though )

[2013/07/14 13:01] Sarah Kline: from here

[2013/07/14 13:01] albertlr Landar: Thats what I was thinking

[2013/07/14 13:01] Nebadon Izumi: no reason you cant move up a bit :)

[2013/07/14 13:01] Key Gruin: some shy folks hanging back might not hear ya :)

[2013/07/14 13:01] Bubbles Journey: cant hear .

[2013/07/14 13:01] Em Jannings: better

[2013/07/14 13:01] albertlr Landar: Well first thank you for coming

[2013/07/14 13:01] Walter Balazic: he's not on Voice bubbles

[2013/07/14 13:01] Walter Balazic: he's talking about typing

[2013/07/14 13:01] albertlr Landar: Just chat

[2013/07/14 13:02] Bubbles Journey: oh convvenient lol

[2013/07/14 13:02] Key Gruin: ya oops sorry

[2013/07/14 13:02] Sun Tzu: ok all in text chat great

[2013/07/14 13:02] albertlr Landar: not everyone may have voice enabled...

[2013/07/14 13:02] Key Gruin: I've heard very little voice usage at all this year

[2013/07/14 13:03] albertlr Landar: But there has been some discussions on the forums about trying to bring the communities here in Osgrid together

[2013/07/14 13:03] albertlr Landar: And I am sure everyone has seen the various issues that have come up over the past few months.

[2013/07/14 13:03] albertlr Landar: There are always going to be disagreements amoung any community.

[2013/07/14 13:04] albertlr Landar: But there is no reason we can't all work together for the common good.

[2013/07/14 13:04] albertlr Landar: Thats what communities are all about.

[2013/07/14 13:04] Sparkaphat Doobie: What are they arguing about?

[2013/07/14 13:04] albertlr Landar: We have a unique situation here with OSgrid.

[2013/07/14 13:04] albertlr Landar: To try new things.

[2013/07/14 13:05] albertlr Landar: We have groups all ready pre existing

[2013/07/14 13:05] albertlr Landar: Some are specialized groups.

[2013/07/14 13:05] albertlr Landar: some are more general.

[2013/07/14 13:05] albertlr Landar: but those can be used as a starting point to form maybe a large all encompasing group for the community as a whole.

[2013/07/14 13:06] albertlr Landar: But to start any organization or club or even community

[2013/07/14 13:06] albertlr Landar: you do just three things.

[2013/07/14 13:06] albertlr Landar: You meet as we are doing

[2013/07/14 13:07] albertlr Landar: You try to form a committee that can better direct things,

[2013/07/14 13:07] albertlr Landar: and then you elect or appoint a chairperson to better bring everyone together

[2013/07/14 13:07] albertlr Landar: The venue here was put together by a few of the volunteers here on OSgrid

[2013/07/14 13:07] albertlr Landar: in just a few days.

[2013/07/14 13:07] albertlr Landar: And they really did an excellent job of it

[2013/07/14 13:09] albertlr Landar: The birthday celebration is coming up soon

[2013/07/14 13:09] albertlr Landar: hum I seem to be having chat lag...

[2013/07/14 13:09] Jeff Hall: that makes sense, be less separated

[2013/07/14 13:09] Inanna Beaumont: entered the region (36.59 m).

[2013/07/14 13:10] Key Gruin: how bad is the lag albertlr?

[2013/07/14 13:10] Sparkaphat Doobie: me too

[2013/07/14 13:10] albertlr Landar: anyone else having this problem?

[2013/07/14 13:10] Franziska Bossi: entered the region (4.87 m).

[2013/07/14 13:10] albertlr Landar: I am typing but its not showing up

[2013/07/14 13:10] Sarah Kline: just froze up

[2013/07/14 13:10] Sparkaphat Doobie: I'm having it

[2013/07/14 13:10] Shez Oyen: I dunno.. I'm not saying anything

[2013/07/14 13:10] Sparkaphat Doobie: now it seems ok

[2013/07/14 13:11] Shez Oyen: ok.. no.. no lag here

[2013/07/14 13:11] albertlr Landar: ok

[2013/07/14 13:11] Em Jannings: test

[2013/07/14 13:11] Nebadon Izumi: cpu is low for this region

[2013/07/14 13:11] Sarah Kline: those new people trying to get in

[2013/07/14 13:11] Nebadon Izumi: its under 100%

[2013/07/14 13:11] Em Jannings: ok now

[2013/07/14 13:11] Nebadon Izumi: maybe network lag

[2013/07/14 13:11] albertlr Landar: well if it looks like I am double talking thats why

[2013/07/14 13:11] Sun Tzu: LAG is like death and taxes

[2013/07/14 13:11] Bubbles Journey: you seem fine

[2013/07/14 13:11] albertlr Landar: it keeps showing up

[2013/07/14 13:11] Nebadon Izumi: a lot of time chat will be out of order for yourself

[2013/07/14 13:11] Nebadon Izumi: but everyone else sees it correctly

[2013/07/14 13:11] albertlr Landar: well anyone back to what I said before

[2013/07/14 13:11] Nebadon Izumi: its network lag usually is the cause

[2013/07/14 13:11] albertlr Landar: The Birthday is coming up

[2013/07/14 13:12] Em Jannings: are the dates set?

[2013/07/14 13:12] albertlr Landar: and we will need as much participation in it as we can

[2013/07/14 13:12] albertlr Landar: That will be Aug 2-4

[2013/07/14 13:12] Em Jannings: thanks

[2013/07/14 13:12] albertlr Landar: And the Opensim Conference will follow in September

[2013/07/14 13:13] albertlr Landar: And I have suggested that we try to tie our Celebration into the Conference as much as possible.

[2013/07/14 13:13] albertlr Landar: For one thing I beleive Nebadon has said he will set up a live streaming of the conference here in this venue

[2013/07/14 13:13] albertlr Landar: For those that don't have tickets to the Conference

[2013/07/14 13:13] Em Jannings: registration is closed I think

[2013/07/14 13:13] albertlr Landar: And that will allow more of our OSgrid members to see and her it.

[2013/07/14 13:14] albertlr Landar: That is what I heard too.

[2013/07/14 13:14] Em Jannings: so a stream will be good

[2013/07/14 13:14] albertlr Landar: But I would encourgage anyone that wants to help with the conference to contact the organizers

[2013/07/14 13:15] albertlr Landar: If not help at the conference you could help here with displays or exhibits that tie into it.

[2013/07/14 13:15] Sun Tzu: Is Darren Guard (MW) still around these days in OpenSim?

[2013/07/14 13:15] albertlr Landar: Now let me shut up and see if anyone would like to offer their ideas or suggestions.

[2013/07/14 13:15] Jeff Hall: i want to say thanks to Dan for giving plots

[2013/07/14 13:16] albertlr Landar: Well this year I beleive there will not be a single region for Mesh as in last year.

[2013/07/14 13:16] Sun Tzu: Just thought might be nice to point out people that stared OpenSim somehow

[2013/07/14 13:16] albertlr Landar: Oh yea, I agree

[2013/07/14 13:17] Key Gruin: Yes albertlr, mesh will not be seperated from the rest

[2013/07/14 13:17] Nebadon Izumi: did we decide on single mesh region? I know when i discussed it with dan and key we sort of agreed that we would allow mesh everywhere

[2013/07/14 13:17] Jaelyn Optera: 95% of this region is mesh I think

[2013/07/14 13:17] Key Gruin: so it behooves people to use a modern viewer

[2013/07/14 13:17] albertlr Landar: So we should encourgae people to use Mesh viewers to enjoy everything here.

[2013/07/14 13:17] Jeff Hall: keeping some events at central would be nice for gathering

[2013/07/14 13:17] Em Jannings: Grid history could be one of the exhibits

[2013/07/14 13:18] Em Jannings: those who know xould contribute

[2013/07/14 13:18] dan banner: there will be mesh anywhere people want to use it

[2013/07/14 13:18] Sun Tzu: would be nice to mayge start a musuem type thing of the history of OPenSim

[2013/07/14 13:18] Key Gruin: that's a neat idea Em

[2013/07/14 13:18] Em Jannings: lead in to the conference

[2013/07/14 13:18] Allen Kerensky: put a mesh around a sign that says: If you can read this, your viewer doesn't support mesh - please try one these:

[2013/07/14 13:18] Jeff Hall: ty Dan...would be in trouble if meshes were not allowed...

[2013/07/14 13:18] Sun Tzu: Something that would bring people here from other grids too

[2013/07/14 13:18] Allen Kerensky: Mesh users would see the surrounding object

[2013/07/14 13:18] Jeff Hall: i have put a sign in fornt of plot

[2013/07/14 13:19] Em Jannings: If you have friends on other grids, invite them

[2013/07/14 13:19] Allen Kerensky: "Your viewer must be this tall to play OpenSim"

[2013/07/14 13:19] Walter Balazic: if you want to do some advertising Albert, LFGrid is doing a dance the opening night of the Conference

[2013/07/14 13:19] Walter Balazic: we are already listed

[2013/07/14 13:19] albertlr Landar: Well I was thinking to also set up maybe a display arear for smaller exhibits that give info on Web Sites that support Opensim, and even other Grids.

[2013/07/14 13:19] Nebadon Izumi: ya there are enough good mesh viewer alternatives now that there is really no excuse anymore

[2013/07/14 13:19] Walter Balazic: give me a sign I'll put it up at the dance to draw people here to your exibit

[2013/07/14 13:19] Bwild Parx: entered the region (36.48 m).

[2013/07/14 13:19] Nebadon Izumi: everyone i have shown Singularity to that was insisting on using Imprudence, really enjoy Singularity

[2013/07/14 13:19] Walter Balazic: Chris put us on the events page last night

[2013/07/14 13:20] Vivian Klees: I'm sure some builds swill be using materials?

[2013/07/14 13:20] Nebadon Izumi: so if anyone has resistance to changing from Imprudence you suggest to them to try Singularity

[2013/07/14 13:20] Bwild Parx: singularity sucks :)

[2013/07/14 13:20] Key Gruin: and recent CV also?

[2013/07/14 13:20] Arielle Popstar: and tell them about unchecking rendering compaqtibility

[2013/07/14 13:21] Sparkaphat Doobie: I like Singularity

[2013/07/14 13:21] Jeff Hall: i dont think we should start a discussion on viewers here...

[2013/07/14 13:21] Sparkaphat Doobie: I like Forestorm too

[2013/07/14 13:21] dan banner: nope it just goes in circles

[2013/07/14 13:21] Allen Kerensky: well, Viewer Wars are important to "User Experience" and region design

[2013/07/14 13:21] Sparkaphat Doobie: Firestorm

[2013/07/14 13:21] Walter Balazic: we just had it an hour ago

[2013/07/14 13:21] Walter Balazic: :)

[2013/07/14 13:21] Allen Kerensky: just pick a capability set

[2013/07/14 13:21] Walter Balazic: I can just cut/paste that one if you want

[2013/07/14 13:21] Walter Balazic: LOL

[2013/07/14 13:21] Sarah Kline: and we did that at all the old town hall meetings too lol

[2013/07/14 13:21] Allen Kerensky: and leave it to the user to get a viewer that meets spec

[2013/07/14 13:22] Marcus Llewellyn: I've thought about using materials. It can't hurt... viewers that don't support it won't see anything weird. They'll just have a "flatter" experience.

[2013/07/14 13:22] Vivian Klees: each has some good and bad, just install for what you need

[2013/07/14 13:22] Sparkaphat Doobie: How often do these Town hall meetings happen?

[2013/07/14 13:22] Allen Kerensky: yeah some materials demo to show the materials module in OpenSim is good idea

[2013/07/14 13:22] albertlr Landar: Well we will probably try to have more Town Hall Meetings as needed.

[2013/07/14 13:22] Allen Kerensky: maybe with a "before/after" texture showing what non-materials viewers are missing

[2013/07/14 13:23] stiofain mactomais: yea whats schedule for future meerts?

[2013/07/14 13:23] Sparkaphat Doobie: I didn't know about them until Shez told me an hour ago.

[2013/07/14 13:23] Em Jannings: perhaps "as needed" but with a monthly one scheduled?

[2013/07/14 13:23] Marcus Llewellyn: Personally, I think the once a month schedule was a good one. Once a week was *way* too much.

[2013/07/14 13:23] Key Gruin: once a month sounds good to me

[2013/07/14 13:23] Allen Kerensky: TOPIC RESET: OSG6B

[2013/07/14 13:23] stiofain mactomais: agree with marcus

[2013/07/14 13:23] albertlr Landar: Well for the fore seeable I don't see why we can't at least have one here the same time till the Birthday Celebration starts.

[2013/07/14 13:23] Bubbles Journey: how bout getting thru one meeting then setting the next'

[2013/07/14 13:23] Em Jannings: oce a month

[2013/07/14 13:24] Key Gruin: maybe for OSG6B planning should be more often

[2013/07/14 13:24] Nebadon Izumi: this is first meeting we have had in a while, this meeting was mostly to tak about OSG6B the Admins will discuss a bit later about any future meetings and we will let you all know

[2013/07/14 13:24] albertlr Landar: Thats why I suggested that for now.

[2013/07/14 13:24] stiofain mactomais: ok neb

[2013/07/14 13:24] Sparkaphat Doobie: I joined the group so it's all good.

[2013/07/14 13:24] albertlr Landar: And there is no reason that a group can't meet here on their own to make plans for a project

[2013/07/14 13:24] Bwild Parx: we could have drive-by meetings based on twitter

[2013/07/14 13:25] albertlr Landar: I would say to just let the Admins know in advance if you have a group that would like to meet here.

[2013/07/14 13:25] albertlr Landar: So it does not conflict with something else that may be scheduled here.

[2013/07/14 13:26] albertlr Landar: I did want to say one other thing however

[2013/07/14 13:26] Key Gruin: We are going to need live (volunteer) performers for the OSG6B event

[2013/07/14 13:26] dan banner: ya this region will be available for a while if anyone would like to schedule its use for any events or meetings just let us know

[2013/07/14 13:26] albertlr Landar: I am on the Board of Directors

[2013/07/14 13:26] Marcus Llewellyn: +1 on "unofficial" meetings. Nothing has *ever* stopped people from organizing and meeting on their own. OSgrid has always had a very DIY ethic, and it's users are the ones who ultimately form, manage, and maintain it's communities.

[2013/07/14 13:26] albertlr Landar: But I am jsut like you, a user of OSgrid.

[2013/07/14 13:27] Franziska Bossi: eep!!

[2013/07/14 13:27] albertlr Landar: Very good Marcus

[2013/07/14 13:27] Akira Sonoda: entered the region (35.43 m).

[2013/07/14 13:27] albertlr Landar: I am mainly involved in the Real World operations of OSgrid.

[2013/07/14 13:28] Bwild Parx: like walking around the server stacks?

[2013/07/14 13:28] albertlr Landar: And honesly most of you are here more than I am especially now that I am trying to obtain 501(c) 3 status for OSgrid.

[2013/07/14 13:28] Franziska Bossi: evening

[2013/07/14 13:28] Key Gruin: yes, DIY and self-motivation are key words for our community

[2013/07/14 13:28] Franziska Bossi: all

[2013/07/14 13:28] Bwild Parx: hi eep

[2013/07/14 13:28] albertlr Landar: well not involved with the technical.

[2013/07/14 13:28] Bwild Parx: er, Franz

[2013/07/14 13:28] Franziska Bossi: hi Bwild

[2013/07/14 13:28] albertlr Landar: but with the Financial and government relations

[2013/07/14 13:28] Sparkaphat Doobie: what will 501(c)3 status mean for us?

[2013/07/14 13:28] Bwild Parx: btw, your a poofer

[2013/07/14 13:29] albertlr Landar: But I forsee some really great opporutnities once we get Osgrid, Inc formally designated by the IRS

[2013/07/14 13:29] albertlr Landar: We can obtain governement grants for instance.

[2013/07/14 13:29] Key Gruin: nice

[2013/07/14 13:29] Bwild Parx: DoD and Arpa contract would be great

[2013/07/14 13:29] albertlr Landar: We can attract much larger donations from corporations like IBM or Intel.

[2013/07/14 13:29] albertlr Landar: We have have software donated to the organization whcih we now have to pay for.

[2013/07/14 13:30] Shez Oyen: ack

[2013/07/14 13:30] albertlr Landar: And we could possible get projects going to improve the whole opensim experience.

[2013/07/14 13:30] Walter Balazic: how is having money coming from the Gov't going to effect the freedom of what you allow to be on this grid?

[2013/07/14 13:30] albertlr Landar: Do you know why we have the NPC 's now on opensim.

[2013/07/14 13:31] albertlr Landar: Justin was paid by someone to do that work.

[2013/07/14 13:31] Walter Balazic: the gov't going to impose any restrictions on what "type" of content or activities will be permitted?

[2013/07/14 13:31] Allen Kerensky: grants and gov't participation kills any notion of adult activities on the plazas or "official" OSG, Inc. regions

[2013/07/14 13:31] albertlr Landar: Right now no one is paid for all the work they do on opensim.

[2013/07/14 13:31] Walter Balazic: precisely my question

[2013/07/14 13:31] albertlr Landar: No because that is part of our Articles of Incoporation.

[2013/07/14 13:31] Shez Oyen: oh boy kettle of fish "adult" activities don't belong on the plazas

[2013/07/14 13:31] albertlr Landar: The only restriction would be the same ones if we were not incorporated and non profit.

[2013/07/14 13:32] albertlr Landar: We can not have gambling, politics, etc.

[2013/07/14 13:32] Allen Kerensky: Just needs to be spelled out so people get their expectations set correctly

[2013/07/14 13:32] Walter Balazic: there's alot that doesn't belong on on the plazas

[2013/07/14 13:32] Allen Kerensky: otherwise - if someone "assumes" they know the rules - but don't

[2013/07/14 13:32] Walter Balazic: and the "adult" community abides by it

[2013/07/14 13:32] albertlr Landar: And that is one of the projects that I and the board are working on.

[2013/07/14 13:32] Walter Balazic: without throwing a fit

[2013/07/14 13:32] Walter Balazic: and carrying on like a maniac

[2013/07/14 13:32] Walter Balazic: unlike other groups that think it's some kind of personal attack

[2013/07/14 13:33] Arielle Popstar: what about the ties between osgrid and opensimulator?

[2013/07/14 13:33] albertlr Landar: The one problem we have here is we are subject to the laws of Texas, where we are incorporated and the United States.

[2013/07/14 13:33] Arielle Popstar: cant opensim do the same sort of thing as a seperate entity?

[2013/07/14 13:33] Allen Kerensky: that means no abortions after 20 weeks now lol

[2013/07/14 13:33] albertlr Landar: But we also have lots of users from the European Union, and other countries.

[2013/07/14 13:33] albertlr Landar: So to the extent we are able we will also try to abide by their laws also.

[2013/07/14 13:33] Shez Oyen: Albeertlr.. so we would be forbidden to coduct political meetings on our own pvt servers away from the plazas?

[2013/07/14 13:34] dan banner: no shez

[2013/07/14 13:34] Shez Oyen: whew

[2013/07/14 13:34] Shez Oyen: ok

[2013/07/14 13:34] Bubbles Journey: forbidden?

[2013/07/14 13:34] dan banner: public regions

[2013/07/14 13:34] albertlr Landar: As long as we do not know about it....

[2013/07/14 13:34] albertlr Landar: Your regions are your own business.

[2013/07/14 13:34] Shez Oyen: ok.. I'm fine with that

[2013/07/14 13:34] Sparkaphat Doobie: ok cause that's what I do

[2013/07/14 13:34] Sparkaphat Doobie: j/k

[2013/07/14 13:34] albertlr Landar: We do not have and will not have a police force here.

[2013/07/14 13:35] Em Jannings: good idea

[2013/07/14 13:35] albertlr Landar: What I am primarly saying is the regions that OSgrid operate themselves are the ones that we have to be careful about.

[2013/07/14 13:35] Shez Oyen: ok.. excellent

[2013/07/14 13:35] Jeff Hall: i dont think its an issue her albertlr, i agree with you, this is not SL

[2013/07/14 13:35] Em Jannings: the grid should only be responsible for those grid regions

[2013/07/14 13:35] Sun Tzu: /me readies his weapon

[2013/07/14 13:35] Bwild Parx: hehe

[2013/07/14 13:36] albertlr Landar: Well to be honest now the FBI and Interpol are spending lots more time on looking for illegal activies on the Internet.

[2013/07/14 13:36] Key Gruin: ya

[2013/07/14 13:36] albertlr Landar: So all I can say it beware.

[2013/07/14 13:36] Bwild Parx: illegal mesh toys :P

[2013/07/14 13:36] albertlr Landar: I have no idea?

[2013/07/14 13:36] Shez Oyen: lol

[2013/07/14 13:36] Shez Oyen: only in Tx

[2013/07/14 13:36] albertlr Landar: They probably don't knwo what mesh is yet.

[2013/07/14 13:36] Sparkaphat Doobie: illegal mesh toys in Texas??

[2013/07/14 13:37] Shez Oyen: sex toys are illegal in Tx

[2013/07/14 13:37] Sparkaphat Doobie: oh

[2013/07/14 13:37] Sparkaphat Doobie: omg really?

[2013/07/14 13:37] Key Gruin: and hopefully OSGrid wouldn't get any flak from things happening on private but osgrid-connected sims

[2013/07/14 13:37] Shez Oyen: lol

[2013/07/14 13:37] Arielle Popstar: so all this would have no bearing on opensimulator as a whole?

[2013/07/14 13:37] dan banner: shez: not if they are called a novelty

[2013/07/14 13:37] Allen Kerensky: that's not exactly true

[2013/07/14 13:37] Allen Kerensky: and if you are simply transporting them, and many other conditions

[2013/07/14 13:37] Allen Kerensky: but public display or use...

[2013/07/14 13:37] Em Jannings: what kind of bearing Arielle?

[2013/07/14 13:37] Allen Kerensky: anyway

[2013/07/14 13:37] Marcus Llewellyn: That's one of those area where a TOS might be handy. Spelling out the simulator operators are responsible for the content and activities in their regions.

[2013/07/14 13:38] Arielle Popstar: when govt gets involved, who knows

[2013/07/14 13:38] Sun Tzu: Mesh is BIGGER in Texas no doubt

[2013/07/14 13:38] Sparkaphat Doobie: lol

[2013/07/14 13:38] Em Jannings: I think a TOS is being written - yes?

[2013/07/14 13:38] Franziska Bossi: mm

[2013/07/14 13:38] Shez Oyen: LOL Sun

[2013/07/14 13:38] albertlr Landar: yes it is

[2013/07/14 13:38] Bwild Parx: all this sounds rather parannoyish

[2013/07/14 13:38] albertlr Landar: By Laws are the priority first however

[2013/07/14 13:39] Em Jannings: are the by laws for RL activity?

[2013/07/14 13:39] Master Dubrovna: What is your estimate of time when the By Laws will be finished?

[2013/07/14 13:39] Sparkaphat Doobie: There are some new things on the horizon that should make everyone's experience much more rich in OS

[2013/07/14 13:39] albertlr Landar: well I can assure everyone that when we get to the TOS you will have all the imput into its workding.

[2013/07/14 13:39] Em Jannings: excellent

[2013/07/14 13:39] Shez Oyen: /me nods

[2013/07/14 13:39] Bwild Parx: however bring in gambling and encrypted gang trafficking...maybe that woiuld pull the plug

[2013/07/14 13:39] Sparkaphat Doobie: omg no gangs!

[2013/07/14 13:40] Sun Tzu: Don't want to go to neighborhood watches

[2013/07/14 13:40] Key Gruin: ya those are definitely things to avoid if possible

[2013/07/14 13:40] Sun Tzu: Too much of that in RL

[2013/07/14 13:40] albertlr Landar: And to clarify, when I say what is done on your regions is you business. I was referring to maybe a political meetings.

[2013/07/14 13:40] Allen Kerensky: Stand Your Virtual Ground Laws

[2013/07/14 13:40] Bwild Parx: if avatars can be banned, i guess rogue sims could be too

[2013/07/14 13:41] Sparkaphat Doobie: Stand your Sim and stand your prim laws.

[2013/07/14 13:41] Vivian Klees: don't come to my region wearing a hoodie

[2013/07/14 13:41] albertlr Landar: OSgrid does not condone the use any thing that is illegal again within Texas or the United States.

[2013/07/14 13:41] Bwild Parx: (sends Sparkaphat's shout to expert shout analist)

[2013/07/14 13:41] albertlr Landar: So if we do know about that, it would have to removed, or the owner could not remain on Osgrid.

[2013/07/14 13:41] Sparkaphat Doobie: omg did I shout? I am sorry lol

[2013/07/14 13:41] albertlr Landar: That could place the whole Grid in jeapordy if nothing was done about it.

[2013/07/14 13:42] Em Jannings: even virtual things?

[2013/07/14 13:42] Arielle Popstar: in what way?

[2013/07/14 13:42] albertlr Landar: Because the FBI could close us down.

[2013/07/14 13:42] Key Gruin: we cannot tolerate illegal activities

[2013/07/14 13:42] albertlr Landar: Simple

[2013/07/14 13:42] Jeff Hall: would it be possible to make a document explaining details

[2013/07/14 13:42] albertlr Landar: Some grids have been closed down.

[2013/07/14 13:42] Sparkaphat Doobie: are there illegal activities going on now?

[2013/07/14 13:42] Sarah Kline: use common sense

[2013/07/14 13:42] Bwild Parx: omg, fbi topic at the b-day party

[2013/07/14 13:43] albertlr Landar: not here

[2013/07/14 13:43] albertlr Landar: not that I am aware of.

[2013/07/14 13:43] Bwild Parx: 911 has ruined the country

[2013/07/14 13:43] Em Jannings: a lot of this area of law is still pretty undefined

[2013/07/14 13:43] Sparkaphat Doobie: I haven't seen anything illegal going on

[2013/07/14 13:43] albertlr Landar: And Common Sense if the best approach

[2013/07/14 13:43] Allen Kerensky: Personally, when I call 9-1-1 they send help

[2013/07/14 13:43] Em Jannings: have the feds actually closed grids?

[2013/07/14 13:43] Em Jannings: or is that just rumor?

[2013/07/14 13:43] albertlr Landar: yes

[2013/07/14 13:43] Shez Oyen: I need to add that to my covenant.. OSGrid and NO one else is responsible for content on my regions.

[2013/07/14 13:44] Sparkaphat Doobie: I just have trees and buildings

[2013/07/14 13:44] Em Jannings: good Spark

[2013/07/14 13:44] Allen Kerensky: so - for OSG6B we're gonna have FBI, NSA, CIA, DHS, and DoJ "how to opensim" exhibits

[2013/07/14 13:44] Em Jannings: we ought to think of using that covenant

[2013/07/14 13:44] Arielle Popstar: Albertr you mention potential benes\fits to opensim as a whole but assume it comes with a price

[2013/07/14 13:44] Sun Tzu: I heard that they looked for groups like Taliban in virtual worlds with moving money and meetings

[2013/07/14 13:44] albertlr Landar: No I don't think that the government deserves an exhibit.

[2013/07/14 13:45] Shez Oyen: I think he was kidding

[2013/07/14 13:45] Sparkaphat Doobie: if the gov't wants an exhibit, let them come and build it

[2013/07/14 13:45] albertlr Landar: And that is another good reason that OSgrid does not support money exchanges.

[2013/07/14 13:45] Bwild Parx: yep

[2013/07/14 13:45] Em Jannings: yes

[2013/07/14 13:45] dan banner: oh besides the fact we dont have an economy?

[2013/07/14 13:45] Key Gruin: oh like Bitcoin for example

[2013/07/14 13:45] albertlr Landar: yea

[2013/07/14 13:45] Allen Kerensky: make one with a non-speaking NPC in a suit, shades, and earpiece

[2013/07/14 13:46] albertlr Landar: But that would be like our banks now.

[2013/07/14 13:46] Shez Oyen: talking into his wrist

[2013/07/14 13:46] Sun Tzu: that morphs into a million copies

[2013/07/14 13:46] Bwild Parx: im pretty sure $0 is equial to pricessless

[2013/07/14 13:46] Allen Kerensky: have the NPC replicate 1 for each visitor and run a follower

[2013/07/14 13:46] Bubbles Journey: can anyone just let the man talk ?

[2013/07/14 13:46] Sparkaphat Doobie: what's up with pathfinding?

[2013/07/14 13:46] Sparkaphat Doobie: oops I'm sorry

[2013/07/14 13:46] Shez Oyen: ::snickers::

[2013/07/14 13:47] albertlr Landar: To be honest that is a technical answer so I really do not know about pathfinding.

[2013/07/14 13:47] Sparkaphat Doobie: (ty)

[2013/07/14 13:47] albertlr Landar: I know I can turn it off...

[2013/07/14 13:47] Sparkaphat Doobie: I want to try it out

[2013/07/14 13:47] albertlr Landar: Its turned off here, or not available...

[2013/07/14 13:47] Key Gruin: it's not working in opensime AFAIK

[2013/07/14 13:47] Sparkaphat Doobie: oh

[2013/07/14 13:47] Bwild Parx: (pathfinds his way to the coffee machine...)

[2013/07/14 13:48] Marcus Llewellyn: OpenSim does not have SL's pathfinding implementation, as it's unlikely we ever will. We *may* get our own implementation at some point.

[2013/07/14 13:48] Sarah Kline: it requires Havok

[2013/07/14 13:48] dan banner: there is currently no pathfinding in opensim

[2013/07/14 13:48] Sparkaphat Doobie: that will reek havok

[2013/07/14 13:48] Sarah Kline: and i have not seen any examples of it yet in SL lol

[2013/07/14 13:48] albertlr Landar: But I must say I would like to compliment Robert for his work on Bullet Sim Physics, I have already seen some great advances with it over ODE

[2013/07/14 13:49] Jeff Hall: I wanted to know: is OS Grid financing doing well, considering donations and all for making it work?

[2013/07/14 13:49] Sparkaphat Doobie: Is Bullet Sim physics working in here?

[2013/07/14 13:49] albertlr Landar: We are getting by.

[2013/07/14 13:49] dan banner: all i know is in sl region rebakes due to pathfinding is annoying

[2013/07/14 13:49] albertlr Landar: In fact I will be posting our financial reports for the Past 4 years in the forums soon.

[2013/07/14 13:49] Jeff Hall: ty Albert

[2013/07/14 13:49] albertlr Landar: But I would like to seem more funds available for things.

[2013/07/14 13:49] Akira Sonoda: cool

[2013/07/14 13:50] albertlr Landar: and when I say things, I mean improvements that will benift everyone.

[2013/07/14 13:50] Jeff Hall: maybe it would be an idea to show some about donations at exhibits?

[2013/07/14 13:50] albertlr Landar: and when it benefits OSGrid, it will uptimatly benefit the other Grids and Standalones also.

[2013/07/14 13:50] Em Jannings: One idea is to form an OSgrid foundation

[2013/07/14 13:50] Em Jannings: or "Friends of the Grid"

[2013/07/14 13:50] Em Jannings: to help with the finances

[2013/07/14 13:50] albertlr Landar: Well I am glad that Em has mentioned that.

[2013/07/14 13:50] Arya Paul: Good idea

[2013/07/14 13:50] Sparkaphat Doobie: how will people donate at the exhibits if we have no economy?

[2013/07/14 13:51] albertlr Landar: And Friends of OSgrid is what we had been discussing.

[2013/07/14 13:51] Jeff Hall: encourage people to help?

[2013/07/14 13:51] dan banner: same way you donate now sparkaphat

[2013/07/14 13:51] albertlr Landar: They can go to a web link to the paypal site.

[2013/07/14 13:51] dan banner: paypal

[2013/07/14 13:51] Sarah Kline: paypal donations on web

[2013/07/14 13:51] Sparkaphat Doobie: oh ok

[2013/07/14 13:51] Jeff Hall: yes dan

[2013/07/14 13:51] Shez Oyen: I thought we already were friends of the grid by donating to it on the website?

[2013/07/14 13:51] Sparkaphat Doobie: I ddn't know

[2013/07/14 13:51] albertlr Landar: And BTW, that is another reason to go for the 501(c)3 designation.

[2013/07/14 13:51] Em Jannings: I think publishing our expenses will help folks see the need to contribute

[2013/07/14 13:51] albertlr Landar: Anyone that has donated is a Friend of OSgrid already

[2013/07/14 13:52] Jeff Hall: i just meant to take the occasion to remind visitors at exhibits

[2013/07/14 13:52] Sparkaphat Doobie: "friends of ours"

[2013/07/14 13:52] Arya Paul: FOG hnmmm ;)

[2013/07/14 13:52] albertlr Landar: Right now Paypal takes charges a fee for each dontionat.

[2013/07/14 13:52] Em Jannings: haha

[2013/07/14 13:52] Em Jannings: ribbit

[2013/07/14 13:52] Arya Paul: LOL

[2013/07/14 13:52] albertlr Landar: But when we are designated as 501(c)3 our fees drops considerably, and we get to keep more of the donations.

[2013/07/14 13:53] Sparkaphat Doobie: Is it hard to get 501(c)3 status?

[2013/07/14 13:53] albertlr Landar: Just takes lots of paperwork.

[2013/07/14 13:53] Sparkaphat Doobie: how far along in the process are we?

[2013/07/14 13:53] albertlr Landar: But I do not see any difficulty in getting it, probably by the end of this year.

[2013/07/14 13:54] Sparkaphat Doobie: ok

[2013/07/14 13:54] albertlr Landar: Just have to complete the By Laws, and fill in the applications.

[2013/07/14 13:54] Em Jannings: we ought to have a party for that too

[2013/07/14 13:54] albertlr Landar: I will have the By Laws by the end of this month.

[2013/07/14 13:54] Sparkaphat Doobie: does it require restructuring at all, to meet 501(c)3 criteria?

[2013/07/14 13:54] albertlr Landar: The reason that this has taken as long, is we had to undo things in California and move and set up things legally in Texas first

[2013/07/14 13:55] Shez Oyen: ::sigh::

[2013/07/14 13:55] albertlr Landar: No restructing...

[2013/07/14 13:55] albertlr Landar: And if anyone wants to know

[2013/07/14 13:55] Sparkaphat Doobie: is there any downside to 501?

[2013/07/14 13:55] albertlr Landar: We will have a board of at least 5 members.

[2013/07/14 13:56] albertlr Landar: Right now its down to two, and we are looking for a 3rd member.

[2013/07/14 13:56] albertlr Landar: Then we will accept nomination for the remaining positions probably in the 4th quarter of this year.

[2013/07/14 13:56] Shez Oyen: what a horrid job.. everyone telling you what you should do.. and griping about what you did.

[2013/07/14 13:57] albertlr Landar: We will be required to file Federal Income Tax returns each year.

[2013/07/14 13:57] Em Jannings: are you volunteering Shez?

[2013/07/14 13:57] albertlr Landar: yes

[2013/07/14 13:57] Sparkaphat Doobie: oh turbo tax :)

[2013/07/14 13:57] Shez Oyen: LOL Em!

[2013/07/14 13:57] albertlr Landar: pease do.

[2013/07/14 13:57] Bwild Parx: send them $L for the check

[2013/07/14 13:57] Marcus Llewellyn: /me volunteers everyone sitting in a blue chair. :)

[2013/07/14 13:57] albertlr Landar: I have worked with non profits for most of my life, so it is second nature to me.

[2013/07/14 13:58] Sparkaphat Doobie: lol they have to log in to cash your check lol

[2013/07/14 13:58] Bwild Parx: sounds reasonable

[2013/07/14 13:58] albertlr Landar: unfortunately no checks...

[2013/07/14 13:59] albertlr Landar: And I have gone unpaid at some of my past employments too, so I know what its like to work with little funds.

[2013/07/14 13:59] albertlr Landar: But what keeps everything going here is the dedication of loyal vounteers

[2013/07/14 13:59] Allen Kerensky: all of this finance stuff is really premature - once the non-profit is set - the treasurer would make reports and that should cover it - but until then...

[2013/07/14 13:59] albertlr Landar: everyone around you is a volunteers, including myself.

[2013/07/14 13:59] albertlr Landar: and working together is hope we grow and improve.

[2013/07/14 14:00] albertlr Landar: let me reword

[2013/07/14 14:00] Vivian Klees: nicely put in a nutshell the community is already here

[2013/07/14 14:00] albertlr Landar: and working together is how we grow and improve.

[2013/07/14 14:00] Em Jannings: second that

[2013/07/14 14:01] albertlr Landar: and speaking about politics, maybe the rule by the IRS about no politics is best even here.

[2013/07/14 14:01] dan banner: +1

[2013/07/14 14:01] Allen Kerensky: First Amendment trumps IRS made up policy.

[2013/07/14 14:01] Sparkaphat Doobie: This is where I come to escape politics :)

[2013/07/14 14:01] albertlr Landar: I have lots of friends that I can never talk politics, as we become instant enemies if we do.

[2013/07/14 14:01] Shez Oyen: /me nods in agreement

[2013/07/14 14:01] Bwild Parx: second second motion for second on cake

[2013/07/14 14:01] Em Jannings: relatives too!

[2013/07/14 14:01] Shez Oyen: yep

[2013/07/14 14:01] Arya Paul: LOL Em

[2013/07/14 14:01] albertlr Landar: yea especially realatives.

[2013/07/14 14:01] albertlr Landar: if you live in the same house.

[2013/07/14 14:01] Shez Oyen: Sunday dinners can be pure hell

[2013/07/14 14:02] Key Gruin: +1 on politics

[2013/07/14 14:02] Em Jannings: hahaha

[2013/07/14 14:02] Key Gruin: or lack thereof

[2013/07/14 14:02] Key Gruin: :D

[2013/07/14 14:02] Shez Oyen: It's the wa of the world

[2013/07/14 14:02] Sparkaphat Doobie: wb Bwild Parx

[2013/07/14 14:02] stiofain mactomais: i gotta go we have live show starting in maritime club now all welcome is a good place to start for anyone interested in social events on the grid hop://login.osgrid.org/Maritime%20Club%20Belfast/15/101/30

[2013/07/14 14:02] albertlr Landar: But if anyone has any other questions please feel free to ask

[2013/07/14 14:02] albertlr Landar: ok I am about done...

[2013/07/14 14:02] Sparkaphat Doobie: albertlr

[2013/07/14 14:02] Em Jannings: thanks albertir

[2013/07/14 14:02] Grid: Cuteulala Artis is online.

[2013/07/14 14:03] Key Gruin: I'll put the chat log up on the OSgrid wiki

[2013/07/14 14:03] Bwild Parx: ty Sparkaphat, was checking out balloon stability

[2013/07/14 14:03] Em Jannings: I have to go too

[2013/07/14 14:03] Sparkaphat Doobie: Do you know about Oculus Rift in OpenSim/OSGrid?

[2013/07/14 14:03] albertlr Landar: well thanks everyone for coming... and we will hold some mroe meetings

[2013/07/14 14:03] Allen Kerensky: yes way to go Albert for helming this drunken ship of fools to a reasonable conclusion lol

[2013/07/14 14:03] Bwild Parx: tc Em
